  • Hi,

I'm sure most of the time they must do a good job otherwise they wouldn't be in business.

The thing is, with a lot of businesses you only know how good they are when something goes wrong. In the case I mentioned above the customer care was non existent, if you have a problem you would expect the company in question to take ownership of the issue and resolve it, not leave you in the dark and turn it into a battle.

In my company (electronic manufacturing for commercial customers) we see problems as opportunities to show our customers how we respond when things haven't gone well, everyone has problems every now and again, most people understand that, it is how a business deals with the problems that is important and separates the good business from the bad.

    Hi,

I agree with ForkHandles. MFI Customer service is diabolical, once they have sold their kitchen the after sales service is practically nonexistent.

Unfortunately they employ sub contract labour. The problem with this is that the contractor will try and run two or three jobs using semiskilled labour. Consequently the work carried out is poorer than the average DIYer.
When you get a problem they want to send back the original fitter - but of course you have to wait until he is free to come back. But because he's now on other jobs you have to join the queue. That can take between two weeks and two months.

It can also be even worse if you refuse to have the original fitter back, because of the bad workmanship.

I would suggest you check out their county court judgements.

If they get a bad fitter they don't stay long, because they cause too much trouble and money for MFI.
that's not true my bad fitter still works there the manager just says he's probably learnt his lesson that isnt good enough for me when his kitchen could have killed anyone who stepped into my kitchen and dare you plug into the wet through leaky wall with loose wires in the junction box:eek: and socket biding it's time! say no more i cant be bothered going on anymore but you'll get no apology from MFI if you want "More F****** Inconvenience" go to the MFI fitter and remember any damages it's your word against theres,if its a death trap tough phone your insurance even if its still under the guarantee thats not worth the paper it's written on, as they'll blame it on whoever came in last ie, independant floor fitter!!!! (how many times have they used that excuse when the majority of people will go elsewhere for flooring and therefore get a person in at the end to fit a floor or are we all meant to get the floor first:confused: etc etc so the workmen can ruin it! and how can a floor fitter create a problem behind an integrated appliance which is bolted onto the worksurfaces so therefore does not budge and the floor fitter has cut round the integrated appliances? plus the flood is all happening behind plaster board from fitting the dishwasher incorrectly:confused: they have "More F****** Instances" in fitting your kitchen than you'll ever know have fun and remember you dont get anything for free! if you love banging your head against a brick wall get the MFI fitter round!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:  MFI ! thanks for nothing!

Took a look for a bathroom with the same thought in mind. Not sure about the rest, but they MUST claw back the £££ in high prices for the goods. A fairly simple shower base and door = £1000!!!

Still going to look at a design from them and a total cost though...
i got my bathroom at Bathstore.com and it is fantastic so please have a look as my whirlpool bath is so good i recommend it totally! enjoy!

Maybe this is true in some areas , but not where my brother-in-law is.
He works on his own and does all the work himself. If there is a problem with a job that he has done (which is rare) he treats it as priority.

His work is excellent and as I said before he has a file full of comments from happy customers and they often reccomend him to friends and family.
  • Hi,

It's a pity your B-I-L isnt Director of MFI Customer Services! Unfortunately 1 good fitter doesn't make a bad company good.

Have to agree with you stash. All too often all you hear is the negative comments regarding MFI fitters, do not tarnish every MFI fitter with the same brush. Yes I am incredibly biased, my hubby fits for MFI and has fitted kitchens for 25 years and I do not dispute MFI do have some bodgit and scarpers on their books. However my hubby prides himself on his workmanship and a satisfied customer at the end. If anyone is considering an installation from MFI why not ask the fitter for references, a 'phone call to a previous customer during a pre fit survey can allay any fears you may have. If the fitter is uncomfortable with this then doubt his credentials, seems sensible to me. People do not buy white goods or cars for instance without recommendations, just look at this forum. Apply the same rules when you employ a tradesman, especially when you're likely to be spending your hard earned cash on a dream kitchen.

I would do this too, but I'm biased as well.

My OH is a kitchen designer and she knows who the best fitters are in our area, consequently, she chose the fitter with only one complaint in the last 6 years to do our fitting. And he'll be back to do our bathroom.

Unfortunately, there are some real monkeys doing the job

i really wish i'd had your hubby to fit mine he sounds great the clown i got looked fresh out of college (if he'd actually been that is!) i know i shouldnt tar them all with the same brush but MFI have let me and my family down and if you saw the state of the place you'd feel as upset as me, my dad is a retired joiner and worked for 50 years so i know what i'm taliking about he is absolutely disgusted by the work and i only had the fitter so he wouldnt have to fit it for me at 70 yrs old, we have used MFI for years and have never had a problem before but the difference was my dad always fitted the kitchen, wardrobes, bathrooms whatever and everything was fine, this time we paid the fitter the extortionate rates he required and he let us down so has MFI as they dont care about the customer once they have your money it's a lottery who you get to do the job and they take no responsibilty in the end and get away with it, so i would stay well clear of the shop and look forward to the day it shuts down after what ive been through.
