Hi,
I'm sure most of the time they must do a good job otherwise they wouldn't be in business.
The thing is, with a lot of businesses you only know how good they are when something goes wrong. In the case I mentioned above the customer care was non existent, if you have a problem you would expect the company in question to take ownership of the issue and resolve it, not leave you in the dark and turn it into a battle.
In my company (electronic manufacturing for commercial customers) we see problems as opportunities to show our customers how we respond when things haven't gone well, everyone has problems every now and again, most people understand that, it is how a business deals with the problems that is important and separates the good business from the bad.

Hi,
I agree with ForkHandles. MFI Customer service is diabolical, once they have sold their kitchen the after sales service is practically nonexistent.
Unfortunately they employ sub contract labour. The problem with this is that the contractor will try and run two or three jobs using semiskilled labour. Consequently the work carried out is poorer than the average DIYer.
When you get a problem they want to send back the original fitter - but of course you have to wait until he is free to come back. But because he's now on other jobs you have to join the queue. That can take between two weeks and two months.
It can also be even worse if you refuse to have the original fitter back, because of the bad workmanship.
I would suggest you check out their county court judgements.0 -

etc etc so the workmen can ruin it!
and how can a floor fitter create a problem behind an integrated appliance which is bolted onto the worksurfaces so therefore does not budge and the floor fitter has cut round the integrated appliances?
plus the flood is all happening behind plaster board from fitting the dishwasher incorrectly
they have "More F****** Instances" in fitting your kitchen than you'll ever know have fun and remember you dont get anything for free! if you love banging your head against a brick wall get the MFI fitter round!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:  MFI ! thanks for nothing!

Still going to look at a design from them and a total cost though...0 -

Maybe this is true in some areas , but not where my brother-in-law is.
He works on his own and does all the work himself. If there is a problem with a job that he has done (which is rare) he treats it as priority.
His work is excellent and as I said before he has a file full of comments from happy customers and they often reccomend him to friends and family.0 -
Hi,
It's a pity your B-I-L isnt Director of MFI Customer Services! Unfortunately 1 good fitter doesn't make a bad company good.

If anyone is considering an installation from MFI why not ask the fitter for references, a 'phone call to a previous customer during a pre fit survey can allay any fears you may have. If the fitter is uncomfortable with this then doubt his credentials, seems sensible to me.
I would do this too, but I'm biased as well.
My OH is a kitchen designer and she knows who the best fitters are in our area, consequently, she chose the fitter with only one complaint in the last 6 years to do our fitting. And he'll be back to do our bathroom.
Unfortunately, there are some real monkeys doing the job :eek:0 -
. Yes I am incredibly biased, my hubby fits for MFI and has fitted kitchens for 25 years and I do not dispute MFI do have some bodgit and scarpers on their books. However my hubby prides himself on his workmanship :beer:0
