Hi all,
We want to get a new kitchen and thought we would try to spend about 3-4k on it as we only plan on living in the new flat a couple of years. MFI have an offer on, if you spend over £4k on a kitchen you get free installation. To us this does seem very appealing as neither of us have ever done any DIY before and our family live 200 miles away!
We need to do things like move sink and cooker aswell so...Does anyone think the offer is good, as i thought even if our kitchen came to 3k, they would prob charge us another 1k to fit it anyway (although the plan was to shop around for a good fitting price), but surely its better to have more expensive appliances and nicer kitchen?
I feel a bit stuck!

Hi Feanor,
A friend of mine had a quote from MFI to install her kitchen. It was £1800 & didn't include plumbing or electric work which she would have to negotiate with the fitter. So check what the installation includes - you may still have to pay for plumbing & electrics & MFI fitting charges are high.0 -
Also I remember reading somewhere that as it is free, they are not liable for any damage caused by them, and you have no recourse if the quality of the installation is not up to your standards. I think you have to get them to put installation included on the invoice.
Could be worth checking out0 -
Just noticed the free fitting offer on their website and am also interested to know how much this is worth and whether they run this promotion quite often?
Thanks0 -
Took a look for a bathroom with the same thought in mind. Not sure about the rest, but they MUST claw back the £££ in high prices for the goods. A fairly simple shower base and door = £1000!!!
Still going to look at a design from them and a total cost though...0 -
after speaking to a few people who have had kitchens fitted recently, Howdens look the way to go.0

Check the terms and conditions as well as I suspect the £4000 excludes the cost of appliances.0
-
Appliances are included in the min £4k spend as we went to MFI last week and asked about this, but we decided to buy from Ikea instead and pay someone to do the fitting.0
-
overpriced and under quality they charge 50% of fit costs to themselves and kitchens are not rigid colour coordinated quality carcases. whenever we do a price comparison against them with custom units prices not much different so shop around0

Hi,
My sister-in-law had a kitchen from MFI and unfortunately she said it was not a good experience. She said there were doors, plinths etc in 3 different wood finishes and several damaged units delivered, after 3 years it still wasn't right, I think they gave up in the end which was a shame but I think the stress was getting to them.

Edit: By the way, she also said MFI customer service was worse than diabolical.0 -
My brother-in -law has fitted for MFI for five years. I've seen his excellent work and a file full of completion sheets singing his praises.
If they get a bad fitter they don't stay long, because they cause too much trouble and money for MFI.0
