So if I have read and understood this correctly, when my DLA is up for renewal next June, as I live in North Yorkshire then my renewal should still be for DLA and not PIP?

Assuming no further changes happen - yes.
Exactly when any further changes happen has not been revealed.

It could be that the 'map' is updated on April 1st say - with effect April 5. (to pick two random dates) and that changes you over to PIP in your area.

If you receive a DLA renewal form, you will be under the DLA rules.
This will happen some weeks before June.

Does this affect indefinite awards? I was told I wouldn't need to
    renew until October 2015?
  • will this affect people and changes in circumstances for people updating there details with Dla department,i have more problems now than when awarded low rate care lifetime award 4 years ago and I was wanting to update my difficulties /needs with them but don't know if it will be looked at under Pip or a Dla now,i live in the north east of england

Anyone who has an indefinte award does not need to renew at all. DWP will send out the review sometime after Oct 2015. So it could be sometime upto 2017/18 before it happens. For now relax and enjoy life as much as you are able to.

My award was granted with a finish date of October 2031.

    I don't suppose that's valid now?

Thanks for the clarification Roger, I hope it doesn't change as I still think it will be easier to get DLA renewed than have to go through the whole PIP journey.

It was around Xmas time I got the forms the last 2 renewals, although I don't normally return them until nearer the time, in case they disallow and impose the new decision before the old award runs out. I know it might mean having to wait a while if they don't get it done in time but it also means you don't lose out, if you know what I mean.

So if I get the DLA renewal form in say January but don't return it until April/May, do I still get renewed under DLA if the "Map" has been changed in the meantime?

OK well unlike previous renewals I did not receive a pack before the turn of the year. I have today (18/01/14) received a renewal pack for DLA not PIP. The letter also says DLA.

Can anyone confirm for me that means my renewal will definately be done under the DLA process and not suddenly changed to PIP. I live in North Yorkshire and thought that renewals of DLA in my area were now being done through PIP???

If it is DLA, then will that apply regardless of when I return the form? My current award runs until June 2014. I know that delaying the return could mean any renewal not done before the current award ends but on the flip side, if they don't reaward they can't impose the decision before the old award ends, if that makes sense.

In the past I have always waited until around May before returning the form just in case. If delaying the return means risking being processed under PIP then I won't wait.

It applies as long as you return the letter in time.
Look at the letter sent with the form for the deadline.

Send the form via some sort of tracked mail, and keep a copy.
Sending it as a bare minimum a week before the deadline is wise - so there is no chance of confusion as to the dates.
