Dreaming of our forever home!

Hello!

Have been a member on here for quite a while but only just plucked up the courage to start a diary! Better late than never, eh?!?

So, as the title suggests this diary is about getting the mortgage down as low as possible so that we can move to our forever home BUT not have a huge mortgage. Would love to find that home in the next 18 months - 3 years but all depends on jobs, how scrooge-like I can be etc etc!

Have been oping every month for the past 2-3 years and want to aim for approx £500 op every month - more if I can. Short term I want to try and op by at least £1500 before the end of the year.

Not sure if the figures I've put in my signature are correct but will need to wait until tonight to check. Mortgage stands at approx £89k and was approx £118k at its highest just over 3 years ago. Really want it to be below £65k before we move but it all depends on when we decide to move.

Little bit about me - married, with a little one at school and I work part time to try and keep the home/work life balance as DH can work long hours at times. We don't earn a huge amount of money but what we do have, I make sure it works hard!

Right, I've bored everyone enough for my first post ;)

hi and welcome to your diary. Good luck on your journey
  • Thank you kirstypark, tootoo and yukkibear for the lovely welcome!

Just made this month's OP of £500 which brings this year's total to £5415 - seems I completely underestimated when I did my signature earlier. Not complaining though!! Now aiming for £6,500 or more before the end of the year.

NSD today but may be only one of the week as hoping to get stuck into Xmas shopping this weekend - I WILL be organised this year lol!

Wishing you good luck for your journey, recently moved into my dream home. It is worth all the overpaying you can. I'm 3 months on and now working on overpaying my mortgage. Good luck!

Started my Xmas shopping today :j. Took advantage of the Mr S toy sale and got some stocking fillers. Need to get my list written for the weekend - I love Xmas shopping as long as I'm organised!

Made 35p on OP today and 40p yesterday - every little helps :rotfl:

No heating on again today. Only been on a few times the last fortnight and only really to get washing dried. Long may it continue seeing as the prices are sky rocketing

Lots of Christmas shopping done over the past couple of days - feeling very organised! It's scary how much kids toys cost though and could actually spend a small fortune on DS. Budget of about £90-£100 for him which is almost spent and doesn't really look like that many presents

Need to do a food shop tomorrow and have £5 **di voucher from Thursdays paper. Hoping not to spend much more than £40 but need to get Halloween treats too.

Not had the heating on since Monday and that was only for a couple of hours. DH is moaning but been told to put a jumper on :p

Mahoosive pile of ironing needing done - definitely more of a Sunday job than Saturday night job!!

    Happy weekend everyone :)

  • Ooops - been a few days since I posted!

Got through most of mahoosive ironing pile only for it to pile up again  Job for tonight I think.

Shopped at A**i at weekend with £5 off voucher and spent just under £40 - happy with that. BUT, went to Mr S today and spent about £65  However, my freezer is now quite full and got some toiletries - next weeks shop should hopefully be cheap!

2xNSD this week and hoping to make it 3.

Heating only been on twice this week and mainly to get washing dry. Load of washing out on the line just now so will try and not put heating on tonight!

Only £2.80 to go on OnePoll before payout - it's taken ages. Almost at another £10 voucher for Consumer Pulse - that makes £110 in vouchers in 11 months. I think I shop too much lol!

Both DH and I have been paid so need to figure out how much can OP next month - hoping for £500.

    Happy Halloween everyone :j

I don't think I'll ever make it! I read on here that they slow the polls down the closer you get to payout - have you found that?? You're a lot closer than me though!
