This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone

Still in a state of excitement about the new job, my jaw is aching from grinning!
I wore the new skirt with a smart top, both black, and a short, swing, black and white jacket. It was not a suit but it did look the part. Anyway it clearly worked!
Need to dash now and get ready for HR and my individual redundancy consultation, it feels such a relief now to be getting this over, rather than dreading it.
NAR - I don't have that many years to prop your pension up, I am not that far off retirement myself which is why I was so concerned about being able to find a new job .... but I did it
Thanks again everyone for the wonderful support :happylove
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day

Good morning everyone :hello:
Well done TTFTM on your new job. I'm so pleased for you xx
Well, it's a miserable day here so far, I opened the door to let the animals out this morning and the evil kittens just looked at me in disbelief then ran back into the kitchen:rotfl: . They are currently mithering my hubby for bits of meat as he's cutting up the leftover pork from Sunday.
I am having a day at home today to catch up on all the housework as I've let it slide for the past week or so whilst I've been unwell. As I'm well on the road to recovery, the state of the house is really bugging me so I'm not going to answer the door to anyone and just get on with it. And on that note, the washing machine is calling me so I will bid you farewell
.
Take care and as always gentle hugs for all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Morning All
Blowy and mild here but I bet the rain isn't far away! I am getting a bit fed up of the constant rain here, hopefully it will change soon and at least it isn't cold.
DW on, not enough of any load at the moment for the WM, probably will be by the time I get home and DD empties her room of doom - it's as bad as ever with cardboard boxes everywhere where she is attempting to pack!!
Going to take my mower to friends this afternoon, they have a lot of grass like us and I wont be having very much so the mower would be a bit silly, it's an enormous petrol driven thing and I will be having a postage stamps worth of lawn!! Also a man coming to collect some tiles I put on freegle.
TTFTM - Keep grinning!
BBird - Hope Tilly is recovering.
Hugs to all especially Jools and Redruby.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Congratulations TTFM.
Wet and miserable here, I'm so glad I gave up lunch duties, I really couldn't do another winter of stood in the playground freezing my bits off. Some staff are a bit envious, but it's their choice, if some of them gave up fags or glossy mags, they could stay in the warm too.
Fish fed, hubby has a cuppa in bed, he's off to the audiology dept today, I'm hoping they will tell him he is deaf and the whole world isn't mumbling.
BB, I hope your back isn't too bad.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -

Good Morning x
Hester - glad work is going ok for you x
Doggies are off for a haircut today so it will be a busy day as they will need a bath when they get back. There will be much rolling and shaking and then they sleep for hours as they have tired themselves out!
Not much else occurring at the moment but hugs to everyone who needs one xxxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Congrats ttftm!
Well the gnocchi was plenty for last night so scrummy.
Miserable weather today. Work shortly, then OH is taking the dog to be groomed later so I'll wash some clothes. By hand! Because our washing machine is still dead. Need to get that sorted.
Not sure what dinner will be. Plenty in the freezer so will find something!
Have a lovely day all x0 -
Morning all,
Pouring with rain here and cold brrrrr, off to work today, going back yesterday was not too bad, Nar you were right, the lovely lot I work with kept offering sympathies, which kept making me well up, but I was glad to be kept busy.
Off to work again today so little os for me, dinner will be something quick with rice, maybe a chilli.
TTFTM, I am so pleased for you :T you can now relax and look forward to leaving.
Bargain give Tilly big hugs for me xx

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Wet underfoot and windy but mild here this morning.
DH up and getting ready for work - no stupid early start today, he's making the most of it - whilst it lasts!
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket pot, beans/veg, tonight we will be having pork chops, mash, veg and gravy. Hairdresser is coming tonight so will be a late dinner.
Work yesterday was a strange day, started off scarily quiet until lunchtime, then went manic for a while we had just got everybody seen by 3.15-3.30 - so was using the available time to catch up on the paperwork and another load of people all came in together and we still had people in the shop when we closed the doors at end of day - took us a few minutes to sort them. Supervisor was telling me yesterday they had to call the Police on Friday to remove an abusive customer - fortunately another customer intervened before the Police arrived and the guy had already left before Police arrived, the Police did visit his home and told us that they "can't tell us too much but he is known to them and there are some medical conditions they can't tell us about". He has been abusive before and my boss has written to him to warn him his behaviour is not acceptable, now they are writing to him and he is banned from the shop and can only contact us by telephone or in writing. Not sure if that will make any difference as I'm not sure he will fully grasp he can't just walk in and start shouting/being abusive - we'll have to wait and see. Another of my colleagues saw a mother and son who she had to advise that they were not getting any money last week and would get money paid this week - she went completely beserk (the customer not my colleague) and her and her son said they were going to come back and and wait for us to come out of work and get all the staff etc. Nice customers we have ...not!
Keep safe and well x
