Just back from Sanford, Florida flying with flyglobespan and despite my worries over a somewhat restricted luggage allowance, all was well and the flight was good.

1/2 hour late taking off but ended up 1/2 early landing in US and with only one international flight at that time we were through emigration by the time we were due to land.

Spanish flight attendants both legs and despite not ordering their food we were offered the hot meal both journeys and for free. The people who had paid got the roll, cheese and crackers etc along with the coffee or tea where we would have to have paid for it.

My main worry before leaving was the luggage allowance when I noticed that the total allowance for economy was 20kg, including your cabin luggage so I dashed out and bought a Tesco value hold-all on wheels for less than a tenner rather than use the larger suitcase which was pretty heavy with nothing in it. On leaving Glasgow both our suitcases and cabin luggage was weighed however on leaving Sanford only the suitcases were weighed.

I had also read about only one piece of hand luggage was allowed from UK and if you carry a handbag that is your one piece! However leaving US people had handbags, trolley bags and carrier bags and we were never asked how many pieces of hand luggage we had.

All in all, both were good flights and I would certainly use them again especially at less than £250 return.

Terrible reports this week on tv, radio and newspaper re their new service from Liverpool John Lennon to New York. Heard some nightmare stories on the radio yesterday.

They have just announced they are cutting the flights down from 7 a week to just 3 due to lack of interest, probably because people in this area are now avoiding them like the plague.

Didn't know whether to post this or not, as I didn't want to worry people who have booked, but just be prepared in case. I suspect most flights have very few problems or delays, its just the problem ones usually get reported.

    Hope that helps.

We used Flyglobespan just over two weeks ago Edinburgh to Toronto(one way) No complaints. The leg room was fine and the food edible.

We used their shuttle bus which was good value but if you choose this option make sure the driver knows where you want of Downtown if you are not going on one of their package tours. We had driven past our hotel albeit overhead but at the first stop we asked the driver if this was 'our stop?' and he had no knowledge that he was to drop us off at the Harbourfront but a quick radio message to control and it was sorted. There was another couple in the same situation so it does well to have your accomodation address with you not just the Hotel name as the driver did struggle to find ours a bit!

I've used them the last three years for the lads September weekend away in Magaluf. So far we have flew from Prestwick, Glasgow and Edinburgh and they have always been on time and great with us considering the amounts of lads and girls weekends away on them at that time.
    Cheers

  • Just used Flyglobespan for Exeter to Hamilton & return. All went ok, flights were on time & gained time during the flights. Food & in flight entertainment were also good. No problems & would use them again. The only thing was that a few passengers were double booked but these were soon accomodated & some upgraded to business class.

I flew with them Manchester to Capt Town at the begining of the year, their outbound flight was delayed for 24hrs, due aircraft out of position and crew out of hours. I was able to claim a little back from my travel insurance as delay over 12hours but it did mean losing a day from my holiday which wasn't great :(. Obviously there was no point in demanding upgrades etc as everyone on that flight was in the same boat. The actual flight was fine and the cabin crew were lovely. I do hope they get some more newer aircraft to add to their fleet as there prices are very good.

    Well I'm happy!

Flew Glasgow to Hamilton last week and the only downside was some confusion with airport queueing. the screens said desk 8, we all queued like the good British folk we are, and there was no attendant! everybody else was going straight to the front of the other two queues! I did ask one of the "Queue managers" who told me to stay in line but eventually we did all get through.

flight was fine, I didn't think food was served but it was, really friendly flight attendants. Pilots came on a few times with their chat which always livens up a long journey. And don't lose sight of the fact it was dead cheap!!!

But - even better - just had an email to say I've been upgraded to Business class for the return flight! I'm not so excited about the flight, more that there will be no queueing!

Oops - doesn't sound too good.

I must admit that I was sorely tempted to use them Glasgow-Sanford this year but after reading many negative reviews decided against it.
Went Star Class Premier with First Choice and it was excellent value for money
We all evolve - get on with it
