Never mind that you only get interest on £3K - - the daily transaction limits are even worse. You need to order their Security Token if you want usable limits.

So in effect to administer the £1k rotation I'm going to have to order a security token. Presumably once you have this then there shouldn't be a problem ?

My YB account is finally operational as of today, though I still need that security token. Test transfers in and out were literally instant but my larger deposit took a bit longer to arrive. Also, although the balance is correct, the are no transactions visible. I hope this is just because it's Saturday. I have never seen this sort of thing with any other current account. They are definitely different, lol.

Debit card and PIN also arrived this week. It's been 9 working days from application so far, and probably another 5 before I get the security token.
  • How did you manage to make payments out without the security token as they state on their website:-

"You will always need to use your Security Token on Internet Banking in the following instances:

The first time you send a payment to any existing beneficiaries on your payee or biller list, regardless of the value."
"Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"

Which will make the 1k rotation a pain.

Why? Surely you would set these up with Standing Orders?

The changes haven't been (fully?) implemented yet. They're telling you what will happen once they are. ;)

As an aside, I banked with YB for over 25 years with my main account, although when I look back I don't know why! For example...

They had some of the highest fees and charges around (didn't affect me though).

Credit card services used to be an 0906 (or whatever) number costing a small fortune (didn't affect me though).

Online banking is an 0844 number (aren't they expensive?).

They were one of the last adopters of FPs, and had very small limits which were very much a hit and miss affair.

Even today, and despite holding this particular current account for 6 years, and having made transfers to a particular payee before, they referred a £700 payment, meaning I had to call and answer a lot of security questions before they released it. And the reason given?..."We've experienced a major increase in online banking fraud"!

    Anyway, security token ordered!

They haven't thought this through. You only need to use the Token once you have received, and activated it. Until then, you can make payments up to £300 etc. my payment was for just £1, so the daily restrictions didn't get in the way, anyway.

You need the security token for any SOs over £300. And you need it for a host of other things.

In short - you just need the security token, end of.
