working perfectly for me
I am logging in via www1.firstdirect.com - - is that the URL you are using?0 -
Yep, I get this:
We're sorry...
firstdirect.com is currently unavailable. We're working to get the website back up and running as soon as possible.
If you need access to your accounts or if we can help you with anything else, please call us on 08 456 100 100 (text phone 08 456 100 147) or +44 113 234 5678 if calling outside the UK (text relay +44 151 494 1260). Alternatively, please try again later.0 -
Something very strange going on. Entering www.firstdirect.com from one computer I was taken to www2.... Shortly after doing the same from another computer I was taken to www1.... and was asked for an Online ID and Support ID when I attempted to log in. Then starting from www2.firstdirect.com I managed to log in successfully.
I assume that all this upheaval is due the systems being updated for the imminent implementation of SecureKey.0 -
Seems to be working again now for me, must say they've always been great for me but online being down is a bit of a pain.0

Been with them for more than 20 years with very few problems. Online's been excellent, too. Until now - I do hope they sort this out soon. Not knowing whether a banking website's going to be working or not isn't helpful!0 -
I have logged on a couple of times today without any problems, maybe the problem is intermittent."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

According to a FD CSA, "The web site may change at short notice, please only bookmark the main page to ensure you are most reliable.".
From this I can only assume FD run some of load balancing or redundant server kind of setup, so if something happens (problems with the server perhaps), it automatically points to another server. Or it could be perhaps manual?
At the very least, if your bookmark doesn't seem to work, visit the homepage and click the link to see if its "really" broken.0 -
I haven't been able to get on First Direct for the past 2 days - very annoying! Had to ring them yesterday. Thanks for the tip about ringing the overseas number. Ive tried that on other websites too and it really works! Id forgotten to do it in this case though so thanks anotheruser!
I tried this morning Googling First Direct and going to their website via that and got straight on. Looks like my bookmark is out of date. Thanks for the heads up on that too peeps!0 -
I never bookmark my bank sites prefer to make a "fresh" search each time using https://www.firstdirect.com"Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0
