First Direct website down - again!

Options
We're sorry...

firstdirect.com is currently unavailable. We're working to get the website back up and running as soon as possible.
If you need access to your accounts or if we can help you with anything else, please call us on 08 456 100 100 (text phone 08 456 100 147) or +44 113 234 5678 if calling outside the UK (text relay +44 151 494 1260). Alternatively, please try again later.

Not again! Years and years of trouble-free internet banking with First Direct, but now that all seems to be changing for the worse. Getting this more and more now from them, and it's never, ever, been a problem in the past.

I do hope FD isn't following the downward path that most banks have taken. They've always been so good in the past (though I have to say that if you want interest on your money it has to be Santander 123).

And still down at 14.23! They tell me they have no idea how long it's going to take to fix, either!

That is very odd. It is working fine for me right now, and it's been fine when I logged in around lunchtime.

I've logged in and done banking today, too. (About 12.30)

That is odd. It's been down for me on the two occasions today that I've tried to use it, and it was down the other day too.

On each occasion, after several attempts to get in, I spoke to the call centre and they confirmed that it was down, and that they were having problems with it.

Ironically, the Santander banking website is rock solid (despite their reputation) AND, unlike First Direct, they're paying me 3% interest!

First Direct are paying you 6% (or 8%) interest plus giving you a free £250 overdraft. Still, it's a shame the curse of the IT upgrade has struck yet again.

True - I forgot about the monthly savings account! £300pm max, though.

However I am sure MSE people will know to call the international number changing the 44 for a 0 making it: 0113 234 5678.

Oh how I love companies listing an international number.
  • Just spotted this post, but everything is fine now, just logged in a few minutes ago with no problems.

  • I thought the site was still off this morning but I'd missed the fact that my bookmark needed updating after their site update, doh!

New bookmark and all back on track :)
  • Seems to be down again now :(
