OS DAILY SUNDAY 17th JUNE

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 17th June 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning everyone..
not been around for a few days as i havent been 100%,had a few days off work too as i might have passed germs on to my oldies. feeling much better now and im off to work at 7.30am this morning but ill be back just after 10am, sorry havent even looked at the last few days threads... so i hope you are all well and in good spirits.

Hello! <hugs>to Aimie, I hope you're feeling lots better today, you were missed on here!
That butter sounds absolutely fabulous, I'm going to pinch that idea next week when I roast a chicken for Sunday lunch...
I've had such a busy week, OH has been off for a week's 'holiday' and so has spent most of it under my feet :rotfl: . Actually to be fair, he's cleared most of the garden, sawn off lots of the horrible conifer branches and disposed of them and also had time to go up and collect DS20 from uni and bring him home for the holidays (yay!).
OS cleaning has definitely gone by the board this week but DS and I had a great baking session on Friday afternoon - he loves cooking and so we made carrot and orange spicy muffins, fruit scones and a batch of Delia's ginger and chocolate chip cookies, which for the first time EVER I managed to BURN:mad: so they had to be dumped. DS has now disappeared off to his best friend's birthday bash so I'm not expecting him back for a while, and with a sore head when he turns up :rotfl: .
Today I have the usual vast mountain of ironing to plough through and like Amie I need to try and dodge the showers and go and tie up my tomato plants which are all dashed down and miserable in the rain.
Have a great Sunday everyone. I had forgotten it was Father's Day:rotfl: (I don't speak to mine and OH doesn't approve of it, he thinks it's a commercial swizz) so any daddies out there, have a nice time too.
Mrs F xx
Edited to add hugs to Jet77, that sounds awful.0 -
Morning.
Looks fairly nice outside today. Fathers day too.... Doubt anyone in my house will remember, waste of time are cards anyway!
Happy to say that my son got his summer job at Mc Donalds. That's one more pocket money less I have to worry about. I had to sort him out with the school leavers ball outfit yesterday. I got it all in Moss bros in the end, they had a good deal for students at only £30, so that sounded OK. Could not get any jeans though as he was far too fussy. Saw some Clavin Klein jeans in a charity shop for £3.... Would not even entertain the thought just for kicking about in... Well he will be earning soon... let him go shopping.
(He now wants a loan for a Moped.... Good idea as I won't have to drive him to work, but I would like to see some dosh coming in first and see how he handles having 100's rather than 10's)
Off to church soon and then work straight after that. Last day in my current office. Then on Monday I start in newquay. Quite looking forward to it. Love the sea and fishing there, not much into surfing though. Please drop in a say hello if you come to Newquay on your Stag/Hen night.
Well folks. Should take the dog out really.
Have a nice day
TIZWAS was great !!!!NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
jet77.. extra big hugs to you this morning.... im so sorry for what has happened to your girls.. but you must speak to your friend again, at the end of the day he can not be allowed to do that and it needs to be dealt with. his mother just cant sweep it under the carpet as he will carry on.. possibly he doesnt know what he is doing wrong. it must be so difficult for you, but at the end of the day it doesnt matter how long she has been a friend for, the fact is that she has to listen and to be honest with you i would report her to social servies if she wont listen. im sending you a pm as what i need to say cant be put on here.
mrs f.... i got the butter recipee from a jamie oliver xmas cd ( he used orange zest )its very yummy and well worth a go. also add some sea salt to it and smother all over the chicken and pop some inside then cover with foil and leave in fridge overnight if possslimmimg world weight loss 6lbs

Thanks Amie.
DD2's just woken up and brought it up again. I was going to wait until I'd spoken to the health visitor b4 speaking to her about it again. I told her that she'd done nothing wrong that he was very naughty and that if any one ever does anything like that again then she's to get away and scream as loud as she can. I don't know what else to do. I feel sick.
Morning Hun
I have just PM'd you. It would probably be a good idea to communicate with people regarding this matter through PM's as it could cause legal liabilities if anything was to happen through the courts etc. This is not normal behaviour for an 8yr old and is most likely being abused himself.
Hugs

Morning all,
Jet, <<Hugs>> I hope you can get to speak to your Health Visitor as soon as possible so that she can advise you how best to deal with this.
Aime, I'm glad you're feeling better.
Penny-Pincher, Sorry to hear about the toothache.
Everyone else is still asleep so it's lovely and quiet here this morning and for the first time this week I've wakened up and it's not raining! :j So I hope to spend some time in the garden today trying to put right any damage the rain has done to my poor battered plants.
We're all going around to my Dad's later to wish him a happy father's day then the kids and I are going to spend the day spoiling Mr Pink. I know that fathers day is a comercial rip off, but he does so much for all of us that it'll be good to make him feel special for a day.
I forgot to lift the roast out of the freezer so I'm debating whether or not it's too late now or whether to make something else.Anyway, I'll pour another coffee while I make up my mind...
Have a good day everyone.

Morning Every1,
Serious ((hugs)) to every1 that needs it, there seem to be a few upsets around at the moment aren't there? Jet77 I can't imagine how you can deal with this but thank heavens your DD's are telling you.
Here I'm up too early due to kitten waking up and wanting to psycho-play at 6:00 am. He forced me up around 7 to try to let OH sleep, and now of course, the little so-and-so is fast asleep on my lap. Durh. Major caffeine needed for me!
Got bitten YET again but don't know where or by what. At least this time I don't have a big hand-span of red inflamation, only 2 10p sized horribly full blisters on my thigh  Can't wear trousers ...I've only got one dress that doesn't rub the blisters and that's a bright aqua and green one I use for a beach cover up! Think I'd much rather be on a carribean beach wearing it!
Still not far along the tidy-up before the carpenter descends, but OH promises to hoover today, and I have a wash or two, plus a defrost of the major fridge/freezer to do. Might be time to discover what's lurking in the depths of the cellar freezer at the same time. Oh and ice-cream to make to use up the slightly squashy strawberries. Must try to spend a couple of hours at the lottie whilst OH is home to look after kitten. Took kitten with me the other day and he kept losing me in the undergrowth (I was 1 ft away) and crying. It was far too stressful to do anything useful!
Hope you all have a productive and happy day.0 -
Good morning everyone.
Jet hugs to you (((((((((())))))))))) have personal experienece of a similar sort of thing happening to a family member of mine, she too didnt know what to do for the best for the child involved, please pm me if you want a chat.
Well we have sun here this morning, hope you do to, so WM on and will be most of the day as didnt get much housework done yesterday with it being ds2 b/day.
On a sader note my sister phone the night before his b/day and i didnt get to speak at all she just screamed abuse down the phone at me then hung up, then yesterday not a present or card from her for ds2 ( her son!!!) He didnt comment on the fact that `auntie` hadnt sent him a card but i know he had noticed. But it didnt spoil his day i made sure he had a great time.
Then yesterday afternoon recieved a phone call from sister in law and my dh brother had gone missing we were all very worried until he turned up a few hours later, he has been signed off work as doctor fears he may harm hiself, and this is all due to my sister in laws son who is only 14 and is a living nighmare he is using drugs, attacking his mum and dh brother and nobody seems to be able to help them, she has actually asked social services to take him away which may sound awful but he is completly out of control, police at the door every day, he goes missing for days on end and she is at her wits end.
They are poping up today as dh wants to talk to his brother we are so worried about all of them.
Hope you all have a nice day, off now as kids runing around trying to remember where they have hid dh fathers day presents!!!!

((((JET)))) that is awful and please, you must do something about it - he may be doing it to others too. Sorry can not offer any advice but ((((HUGS)))) to your daughters too and Im glad there are others on here that can help you.
As usual I have done nothing about fathers day so I need to get a card made and pop over to see my Dadas usual with Dads he is very difficult to buy for so I think I will pay for some buckets of golf balls at the driving range for him. Can not think of anything else
need to pop in to see my Nana today too.
DD got up but has gone back to bed
Today I need to have a clean and sort through. We are having Roast Chicken for dinner with all the trimmings and while the oven is on I am going to have a go at impossible pie and bake another batch of muffins ( the batch I baked yesterday didnt last 2 hours)
I have another interview tomorrow - this time down in Peterborough so need to do a bit of research for that this afernoon and evening.
I looked in the mirror yesterday and noticed that I seem to have gone gray overnight  ( well not totally but where did all the gray come from all of a sudden) so I went out and bought a home dye kit that says it covers 100% grey so it will be put to the test very soon
Have a lovely day everybody
