Why don't you post your apparent problem on the official Sky Help forum? I've seen no active threads there where connecting to the internet caused failed recordings. However, I have seen plenty of people complaining of failed recording with "power failure" as the reason.
Thanks - I had a quick look there, but thought I'd ask here too.

Well, from the Sky forum (http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/On-Demand-Catch-Up-TV/Sky-HD-box-freezing-since-Wireless-connector-attached/td-p/1309543):
Re: Sky+ HD box freezing since Wireless connector attached

    Good evening everyone,

I am sorry for the delay in replying to you, we are aware of an issue where the following Sky+HD Boxes DRX890 & DRX895 will become stuck in standby if you have a mini connector attached to your box, we are currently working on a fix for this and as soon as we can we'll have this released.

Thank you for your patience and sorry for any inconvenience caused.
    My box is a DRX890.

So a known issue. I wonder what Sky expect you to do while they work on a "fix"?

Well, it didn't cost me anything and I've unplugged it, so I'm no worse off than I was.

Perhaps, but you have no internet services from your digibox.

Sure, which I didn't a couple of weeks ago. I only got the thing because it was on HUKD.

But I've got a computer with internet access sat on top of it, so not all bad.

I've actually been wondering about ditching TV and just going internet...
