I've been Money Tipped! Debt-free and Proud!
Cathy I am impressed, its not a nice time of year to start running. I dream of doing to C25K but get so embarrassed running outside. I keep thinking of joining the local gym for £20 a month, but I would have no time to go.

Think I ran for 17 minutes this morning ... does that count? :rotfl:Also some walking - the whole thing took 35 minutes ... actually the running was about 20 of it. Hopefully it was better than nothing, anyway. :)

Well done for getting out there in the weather yesterday, it was only necessity that got me out of bed - Sunday's the only day I have time to get a long run in, so I have to get out there rain or shine :)

C25K is a very good programme to follow, so don't let anything put you off the idea :T

Didn't know about the C25K, will look into it, thanks for the tip-off, you guys ... The walk/run thing seems to be working for me well so far. I have weights at home and am working out with those on alternate mornings. I still belong to the work gym but am seriously thinking of dropping it now. I have a work colleague who lives near me who goes there pretty much every day and I'm put off by the idea of using the gym at the same time. There may be an alternate work/gym arrangement that works out cheaper (there's a council gym very close to the private gym that I could join) or I could just use the council swimming pool on a pay as you go basis, which could be cheaper still. I'll see.

The good news for Feb is that I've been paid a bit extra in the Jan pay packet so should be able to tuck away £1,000 no probs. Savings goal on track. Yay!!!

I love southern hemisphere stuff too but am happy with pretty much any red as long as it is drinkable. White I'm a bit fussier about.

I asked for a pay rise today ... we'll see how it goes.

How did the pay rise go?

Hi Guys, Saving is going well this month £1500 ive not added to it with it being OH birthday. Looking forward to next months wages hope I can save the same. I find myself looking at family holidays and was like OMG!! Florida for 4 £4000-£5000 Spain around £2000. I really cant warrant paying these prices..I had a little look on Haven and saw a long weekend in school holidays for £249.00. The question I want to ask myself tho is...why am i looking to spend my money?? I dont want to falter so early in and my house requires alot of work this year. Any tips guys? Tell me off lol :)

Flick, thanks for asking. Spoke to a senior guy today and he said to email another senior guy even higher up. So, I'll give that a go. Why not? He agreed that I should get one. :)

I'm going to have a little time away this year. I think I can work it so it doesn't interfere with the savings goals. Family hols are another thing altogether though - they do tend to be pricey. I don't want to tell you off though, Cherryjack ... just not really in the mood :)

Holidays are an essential for me, living in the northwest on a little island like I do. It HAS to be budgeted for.

FL doesn't have to be that expensive, if you leave out theme parks.

I'd look to rent a cottage/gite and travel down by car. Should work out less than 2K for a family?
