How to fall in love with saving money

It is quiet, but I have had problems with the site most of the day. I could get on the site via my phone, but not the laptop. It seems to be fixed now.
I got up early (for a Saturday) and popped to Lidl for the pork chop offer. I dont eat meat myself but the OH is a confirmed carnivore. Twenty chops for less than £8 is a bargain. They are fresh and British and now frozen.
I also got a card for £50 in the post for Sainsburys for signing up for their fixed energy prices until May 2015. That will come in handy.
I have done some cleaning and hoovering, but I want to tidy out some cupboards but I cannot get myself motivated enough to do it. Im on my own today and tonight maybe I will get round to it then.
Still trying my best to save money, but we are out for family meals before the end of the month and i am fretting that we may have to dip into this months savings to pay for it.
Happy Saturday.:)0 -

Yes, that would explain why not many people seemed to be around. I didn't seem to be having problems though - how strangeI got up early (for a Saturday) and popped to Lidl for the pork chop offer. Well, the fact that you bought at 20 at all is pretty impressive, JoJoC
It does sound a real bummer on the price of the flats but times have been hard the past few years, obviously, and a lot of people have had problems with property or shares (or both). So, I'm sure you're not alone, if it's any comfort.
Thanks Cathy- yes you're right. It was fab that we were able to run a household so young and we've done really well for ourselves by being able to pay to have a nice wedding, have a baby, do the flat up nice and have some nice holidays. I just wish the harsh reality dawned on me sooner- I could have been much closer to my goal by now!
You're right Eco Miser- I don't want the prices to go up too much or we won't be able to afford to buy, but we won't be able to do that anyway if we can't break even in our current property!
I'm sure it'll all work out somehow.
I've been a tad hungover today (a bottle of wine at my friends house last night) but managed to keep my little boy entertained by doing some crafts in the house.
Has anyone got anything nice planned tonight? Husband is out on a night out tonight so I think I'll put a soppy film on and start a photo book online.CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))
July debt total: £24,630.44 | New debt total: £18,316.34 | Total debt paid: £6,414.10 (26%)

Eco Miser, well obviously you weren't to know that the prices would fall further
It might have all sold out at the first marked-down price. So in my book it's £4 saved.
However, if you develop a "blackcurrant and licorice" habit, the story may change, for good or ill? ... It was nice, obviously, if you stocked up on it?
BTW, it had never occurred to me that the ice cream section of my local Tesco might have markdowns - I'll have to look! How have I never seen marked-down ice cream? I don't know. I don't often buy it actually, despite having a huge sweet tooth - it is one of those things I try to avoid, like the biscuits section.
I do make fruit sorbets in the summer/autumn from fruit at the allotment - I have some gooseberry sorbet still left over that I should probably finish off at some point. Gooseberry sorbet is the business, I love gooseberries.
You're just making me hungry now.Eco Miser

Very nice. I'll be visiting that cabinet again tomorrow. However, it is £2 spent on frivolous luxury, not very MSE
Noooo!!! Not for a man recovering from a bad cold. Those blackcurrants will be doing you the world of good
You're just making me hungry now.I must admit I really can't understand why supermarkets don't sell more goosegogs in the summer - it's such a great fruit - makes lovely jam too.

Morning all! Lovely sunny morning where I am, hope it's sunny with you too. I'm back to work today - yay!! (not).
Anyway, I've decided on a mini-challenge, to set myself a grocery budget of £10 a week till next month ... I just want to see if I can do it. I've got loads of food in the freezer/storecupboard and it's only three weeks so I reckon I can. It starts today.

Beautiful down here on the south coast too, will enjoy not running in wind/rain for once. Only 28 days to go until the marathon so the end's almost in sight, next week marks the last of the really long runs, after that it's time for tapering and lots of pasta0 -
Go Lomcevak go Lomcevak!! :T0
