Thanks Chrysalis, it is rife isn't it, the delights of winter.......
And yep, I've been trying to get out of being so desperate to buy food on payday and then blow the budget too, but this time it just all fell apart with the pesky winter bugs!! However, onwards and upwards......hope you stay healthy and warm

Just found you also dreaming of chalets and perfect skies.
We're heading out this xmas (not that you prob want to hear that) for a week of peace a lovely snow = La T, Trois Vallee.
Hope you all feel better soon and stay healthy and warm. mines are so much older now but we always hope for another patter of feet, although we're both v old!
I wish you so much luck on your journey. xTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Hi Pippilongstocking!! And thanks for stopping by

Yes I do want to hear it!!! Just because I can't go at the moment doesn't mean no-one else should - I LOVE hearing about other people's travel plans!! Are you actually going over Xmas itself? Catered or SC? Budget or fancy pants? I'd love to hear some details
I am indeed dreaming of chalets and blue skies, although the skies were very blue here today which was lovely as I'm back out and about now and (almost) fighting fit again.
Todays good stuff - paid £3.50 to CC1 as we missed all DS's groups this week. I also resisted the lure of a magazine which I reeeeeally fancied after the week we've had, however I resisted :T Small things but gradually, slowly I hope creating a major change of habit.Debt Oct '13 - [STRIKE]£44,076[/STRIKE] £41,578 5.7% cleared0 -

Thanks Brizzle - lets hope so

So, great news today - we had to get the car fixed as some delightful young person had decided to kick the wing mirror off some time ago one Saturday night  Its been taped on in an embarrassing fashion for what feels like forever, and finally went in to be fixed. The good news is, they quoted "around £180" and the actual cost was "£186", so pretty close! This still leaves us with close to £300 in the Car account, which I am sooooo tempted to pay across to CC1 but I think the best thing is to build up this emergency fund to £500 first, just in case..............
Also, big discussions with DH today with regard to life, debt etc. He's been quite down, which I won't go into now, and much of it is linked to the debt and the limitations that brings. We came up with a solid plan to support my massive goal of paying off £20K by next NYE, which includes making a date for once a week tackling some financial issue. All v v boring and hardly the date nights you dream of when you're younger, however its got to be done and will bring us closer to the life we would very much like to be living.
The BEST news is, I spoke to my Dad today, I'm popping round tomorrow (I don't see him that often really), and he's promised to make us some "Power Soup" to make sure we're all better. Dad lives for cooking (whereas I live for eating
) so it will be a massive treat whatever he comes up with :j
Onwards.............:):):):):)Debt Oct '13 - [STRIKE]£44,076[/STRIKE] £41,578 5.7% cleared0 -
Here's to date nights with a difference

Try and combine 'date night' with some time after for yourselves or make something nice/just for you two before/during your powwow
Its amazing when you've taken time for yourselves to talk to each other how much stronger that will make you feel no matter the subject.
We talked money (my new husband and I (you see I got the new husband bit in there)) the other day after a bowl of chips. I'm often scared to raise anything on the subject but in 6 months we're moving intogether and my finances are more complicated than his (I also have two kids which aren't his) so we did need to talk and I felt so much better after.
It made all the difference talking about it just us and taking time to do it. (I've kids he hasn't)
Just saying - sometimes its hard to see the wood for the trees. Any time is special, no matter the subject
And yes Xmas - cheap as chips (package/self catering/apartment) - can't wait. We eat frugally all year and then can go off having not spent lots on shopping and have a holiday - we cancel xmas presents to all and go off and have some time for just us (and whichever kids want to tag along, this year just my son)
I'm a novice skier and DH is a really annoying can do just about anything kind of sort. DS is a new boarder but loves it.
We'll do a combo of eating noodles/cereal we've brought with us, bakery nosh which in france is awesome and eating out but quite sensibly.
Hope you've had a nice night and the power soup's worked well.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Well, I tried to be good and update yesterday but for some reason I kept getting logged out and losing posts, so fingers crossed for more success tonight! Apologies in advance as this will be loooooong....
Power Soup is AMAZING!! And he gave me some 'medicinal' cakes too, result :Tbrizzledfw wrote: »Here's to date nights with a difference

Aww thanks Pippilongstocking, you are right any time spent tackling it together is positive, and we will try and make it as 'nice' as possible. DH likes the idea of treats after each evening of sorting, but as I'm six months preggers I think his idea of a treat is a little different to mine!! :rotfl::rotfl:
Your holiday sounds lovely, I honestly think some time away is one of the best presents you can have and would always prioritise a holiday over gifts. If I wasn't expecting I'd be sooooo tempted to follow your example - its really quite a good thing that our LBM has coincided with me not actually being able to ski as it takes away the temptation! Could be tempted with French bakery nosh though............:)
And I love how you got your 'new husband' mention in - lovely lovely lovely!!Just came across this diary, GO YOU!!

Hi ALM :hello: Thanks so much for your kind words and for stopping by. The diaries are really motivational aren't they? I definitely feel more accountable just by being on here. I'll try my best to keep going!
So, in debt-busting news: I listed three baby expert type books that I've never looked at on Am*z*n this weekend, two sold and have been posted but its only about £4 profit - better than nothing though and will go the CC1.
I've also listed a few bits on Eb*y, no bids yet but a few watchers - fingers crossed there.
£80 overpayment made to CC1 after shuffling a few things around, this might be the only one for this month though as December has a habit of surprising me with its expenses and I'd hate to have to actually use the CCs again. Hmmmm undecided here but think we'll go cautiously through the next few weeks before revving up again after New Year.
Had a lovely day today at a friends house - she provided lunch for me and DS and we provided cake
Then a lovely walk with our boys finding sticks and pinecones in the sunshine - lovely. Some things cost nothing
Have a lovely evening all!Debt Oct '13 - [STRIKE]£44,076[/STRIKE] £41,578 5.7% cleared0 -
Good news on the books sales, have they changed their postage payments yet as I've found that bigger hard backed books seem to generate a loss due to the postage being more.
Lunch and walk sounds fabulous, the sun was shining here this afternoon too really brightened up the day.
