  • Amazing Amazing Amazing effort - love it! Porridge is great - and only 75p for 1KG.. ha! I love the stuff! Sacrifices...;- )

Evening all! Feeling positive today - tomorrow is payday (albeit DH's payday, still a bit weird but hey ho) so a big opportunity to make some good debt-crushing payments :D:D:D:D And DS is going to play with his cousin all afternoon, this literally NEVER happens so I'm going to have the afternoon to prepare for November properly :) having joined your challenge NinjaSavingKat I think I'm going to need it :rotfl:

Thanks for the message Chrysalis!! The ski show was pretty good, really quite small though as it was the first time its happened in the north. It would probably have fit into the Chill Factor with a bit of planning tbh, however this would have been far too tempting to have a ski so I'm glad it wasn't!!

Brizzled - its reassuring to hear even the pros are overwhelmed too!! And what a goal - skiing in Feb - that's so close I can practically smell the snow!! However, you would have to be totally sure wouldn't you - not just debt paid off but enough money for flights, accommodation, insurance, spends, lift pass.....do you think you can do it?? Also - do you have a diary? I've had a quick look but no joy :o

Right its book and bed for me shortly, I'm going to need my energy for all the money magic I'm going to weave tomorrow!! :p

    Afternoon!!

I'm currently sat here in the warm watching the hailstones outside that DH and DS have just gone out in  It's a bit brutal out there!!

I hope everyone is good and feeling positive at the start of a new month :) I've been doing a lot of looking at numbers over the last few days - if looking at them made them disappear I'd totally be debt free by now!! Here are the positive steps I've made:
    • Made £40 overpayment to CC1 on payday. DH's salary covers all direct debits, contributions to piggybanking accounts 'Xmas', 'Home and Emergency' and 'Children' and after this there is £40 for CC1. If I don't do it on payday it miraculously disappears as if it never existed :p
    • Paid £3.50 to CC1 last night when we decided not to rent a film :)
    • Joined NSK's Just Say NOvember challenge - this is proving tricky to start with as it is geared to those with a once a month income, whereas ours is all over the place, but I'm trying my best and it really makes you think.
    • Decluttered a bookcase to sell on local fb selling site, I'll out it on this evening. Decluttering feels sooooooooooo good and is something positive to do in between paydays when you feel a bit useless, and if it brings in a bit of extra money all the better.
    • Pinned a couple of ski lodge images on Pinterest - motivation, motivation, motivation!!! :rotfl:
We're going away for a night tomorrow which we NEVER do so will try our hardest to keep it as cheap as poss - no, hang on, we WILL keep it as cheap as possible :A Baby scan right before we set off too so fingers crossed all is well :):):):):)

    Evening!!

Thanks Indebted for your cheerleading!! Its been a very busy few days with DH being off work this week, we're doing loads in the days so I've been exhausted by evening!! We have overspent in a couple of areas this fortnight - on breakfast out when we were away which wasn't planned for, and also on several new items of clothing for DS. The clothes were pretty essential as he has literally grown out of everything in the last week  and we bought more than we would have normally as we found a H&M where we stayed on Monday so bought SO MUCH stuff for very little money. I live in a relatively small town where all the children's clothes are very upmarket (aka crazy prices) so whenever I go somewhere like that I take full advantage.

However, apart from slightly screwing up my efforts on the Just Say NOvember challenge this hasn't caused too many problems in the grand scheme of things. Positive things to report are:
    • We were offered our first 0% balance transfer deal in FOREVER this week. One of my cards has come down so much in recent months that they sent me through a deal, so we were able to transfer over £600 from DH's dastardly CC1. This isn't much but its a positive sign, as we've been rejected for a couple of 0% cards and offered no deals for the last couple of years :D
    • Final statement for the month came in so my snowball spreadsheet showed another £40 to be paid off - done!! :D
It's that time again - The Fear has returned as the rent is due tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!!

    Evening back

Sorry to hear about the Fear...horrid. Our new lodger paid me early this month and also asked yesterday if she could stay for another 6 months...so really pleased. Now:think: how do we get you one of these rather than muppets you currently have? No fun if you are anxious about getting paid...

Skiing...we do this on an absolute budget. Can't reveal too much in open forum as would blow my cover but it can be done :) yep do have a diary..but usually floating around so many you'd hardly ever know! :)

Keep on going. You're doing great and it's brilliant to have you posting and keeping a diary :D

Hi Brizzled!! Thanks for the encouragement - I'm finding being accountable to the boards really helping. I'm intrigued about your uber-budget ski holidays , and I totally know about giving too much away on these boards, I feel like my cover could be blown at any time ;)

If you reckon you could do it once you're debt free and it will give you the motivation to get there as quickly as possible then I reckon go for it!! But I may not be the best giver of advice such as this given my current situation :rotfl:

Another positive update - I've just arranged to meet a mummy friend next week. Normally this would be at local soft play (£4) complete with refreshments (£3.50ish). Instead we're going to the children's section at the local library, hurrah!!! :T

Being accountable ...and not hiding. You are bang on there. It makes all the difference IMO.

Well done on being frugal with your mate..baby steps! :)

    The tenants paid!!!! :j:j:j:j:j

Phewy!! So for the first time I have taken £100 from this and put it to CC1 at the START of the fortnight, leaving us with a new, improved and reduced budget for the next 2 weeks. Me and OH are both slightly terrified but ready for the challenge.
