Car dented by valet!

Car owners really need to take responsibility for their own decisions they make . I feel sorry for OP , if this happened to him . How can you just hand over your car keys to " total strangers ". Under the false impression these people can drive properly . Or hold a driving licence . I see it everyday , car owners in these places handing over their expensive car keys over . Without any concern. Handing keys over to them is at some point your car is going to be moved by them . More likely ,with speed . They have other cars waiting .0

Im guessing they wont have any insurance. So even if you can prove it was them(doubtful) what are you gonna do?0

Why not just claim it off your own insurance?
If you have protected no claims bonus it will be painless & a lot less hassle.0 -
Not a lot you can do really......
I drive a 10 year old Vectra, worth less than £1000 and I still don't trust anyone else to wash it.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

It was a proper valet company, well known in my town, and recommended to me by a number of people. I had been to my sisters house in the morning and had looked at my car whilst there, neither I nor my sister or brother-in-law saw any kind of dent, my brother-in-law would definitely have noticed it had it been there before as he actually commented to me that day that my car could do with a good wax. I did not notice the dent after as I simply took the keys and got into my car. This was the first time I had ever got a car washed by someone else. I only live about 2 minutes away from the garden centre in a very quiet country lane, and I parked my car next to my garden wall, the dent was on the opposite side of the car to any vehicles travelling in the lane. I didn't notice the dent when I got home as I walked past the car with my back to it. It was only when my dad left the house later that he was facing it and saw it.
I went into the centre today, the valet guys had not turned up. I spoke to the owner of the centre who is going to check CCTV for me.0 -
I still don't see how you could get in your car and out of your car without seeing a massive dent in the front wing.
I would think your chances if getting anything from the carwash blokes is next to nothing.
Don't know if i would class a £4 wash and dry a "valet" though.0 -
Why wouldn't you check the car over while still there? I think you're on a hiding to nothing - they can just say it will have happened after.0

If you did not notice a large front wing drivers side dent when you got in to the car then it could have happened any time. You're on a loser with this one I think.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
asumming the valet did dmage the car, the fact that they didn't own up to it on the spot and let you drive off with the damage tells me that they are not going to own up to it later on.
The security CCTV will not help much. They don't give a damn about these things. They will only produce CCTV footage on the request of police and good luck trying to get police to make a formal request to the car park security for this. Contrary to what people think CCTV is not easy to access.
The onyl times CCTV matters is when they're generating revenue with it and need to use it to record parking/road traffic violations and to be produced in request of the police for high level crime. Not civil matters like these.0
