It is easy to list them as I am telling you I have no one I know who works in the public sector, that is a fact. Maybe you know something I don't?

200 friends and family? Wow I have a lot of friends but not that many

Go on then dazzle us then with your 40 (1/5) that work in the public sector.

Fair enough, I said I believe you!

Just going through my Facebook friends list I have:

    Teacher (private, non uk)
    Security guard (private)
    Shop worker (private)
    Trainer (self employed)
    Shop worker
    Administrator (public)
Bank employee (probably public I think!)
    Hospital doctor (public)
    Website designer (private)
    Marketing manager (private)
    Receptionist (public)
    Night club photographer (self employed)
    GP (private)
    Bank employee (private)
    Police officer (public)
    DJ (self employed)
    Marketing officer (public sector)
    Paint sprayer (private)
    Teacher (public)

That's the first 20 of my Facebook friends. I make that 7 out of 20 public sector, so above average. I haven't counted people I currently work with as I currently work in the public sector. Nor have I done any research into whether people whose surnames begin with A or B are more or less likely to work in the public sector!! ;)

I'm not going to go through the whole lot but I think that's probably a fair reflection of my circle of friends.

Hope that satisfies your curiosity. :)

I have no mates or friends in the public sector

Perhaps that type are beneath you?

No friends who are carers or cleaners either?

Sorry no. Are cleaners not private sector if they work for a company that charge a firm for office cleaning?

I have worked with many people from the public sector and they don't realise how good they had it until going to work for private employers.

Works both ways. I earned a lot more in the private sector and had a reasonable pension too. I now have a good pension, earn a lot less but get a whole lot more job satisfaction. Swings and roundabouts.

The 2 of my friends who are in the public sector saw how carp it was in the private sector so the retrained to get into the public sector. I'd love to land myself a wee public sector job myself, even if it was lifting rubbish, wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

Yep, I think that and the crappy holidays was the big motivator.

Yeah lots of people used to leave my old co when they realised they only got 20 days plus BH after coming from places (still private sector) that gave them up to 35 days plus BH.
