The NMW is less than £6.50 is it not so until it goes above £6.50 the boss need not give a rise at all.

It'll have caught up with me next year no doubt.
  • tbh OP it sounds as if even another job isnt much of a bargaining chip, if the employer is training someone else up...just in case.

Odd I know no one in the public sector. Oh dear.

You must know some of the people who work in the Jobcentre quite well - they're public sector.

I handed in my notice at my previous job only to be given a payrise hence why I turned it down.

Sadly you are right, I have given up hope of finding other work, its just a matter of when I walk, or when I can grow the balls to.

No balls needed to walk away from a job without another one to go to. Balls needed to grit your teeth and carry on supporting your children, despite your personal dissatisfaction with the job.

I do not know any police officers, nurses, fire fighters, doctors, council officers, teachers, school crossing patrols nor do I read the newspapers.

Like I have said all my friends and family work in the private sector or are self employed.

    Fair enough.

You don't happen to live here do you? ......

Why is it you think I SHOULD know public sector workers?

I know them very well? Its not a place to meet with your pals!

I only know ONE by name and that's the advisor I have now since July and have seen her only 3 times. Everyone else there I have no idea what they are called and they are not my friends

Totally random and off topic but how exactly do you get a job in a job centre? I've never saw any advertised
