OS Daily Saturday 19 October 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Looks wet but mild here this morning.
DH and DS1 up stupid early and gone to work. DS1 didn't want to get up but he has to go with DH on a Saturday when DH is working as that was a condition of him having his motorbike for his 16th birthday - we bought the bike (brand new - cost a small fortune, taxed and insured it). I really don't have an issue with helping out with the cost of things but as there's really no part time jobs about he has too work with his dad. The insurance is the most expensive bit and will be due again in December - unless he gets a job between now and then he doesn't have the money to pay it so we will be paying it again.
Dinner last night was chicken in white wine and cream sauce, mash, carrots, broccolli, and peas. Ice cream for dessert. Today we will be having jacket poatoes with cheese, beans, bacon etc as later we are going to friends for drinks. Bought half leg of lamb yesterday, so we will have that for lunch tomorrow, I will do all the trimmings, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, green beans, peas, roast and mash pots, yorkshires and gravy. May pop to farm shop this morning and buy some apples and make an apple crumble so there's an option of apple crumble and custard/ice cream for tomorrow. Haven't got a menu plan down on paper but have a good idea of what we will be having this week as have quite a bit in stock and now want to start reducing it a bit so I can purchase the extra bits for Xmas as and when I see them. Have been buying the dried fruit etc for the Xmas cake and puddings - I will be making those in November as I have some time off.
Was reasonably productive yesterday, although I seemed to run around all day - bought the items for the extra security and both gates were padlocked last night, when DH comes home from work later he will be installing the bolts at the bottom of the gates. I've bought extra padlocks to padlock these too but DH not keen as it's more hassle every morning and as he very often works long days - he goes before it's light so not easy trying to unlock and unbolt gates etc. We're looking into a security sensor light for the end of the garden nearest the garage (this is where the back gate is). Had an account review at the bank. Did food shopping, took DS2 to the Docs - he has some sort of excema (sp?) so we have cream and a moisturiser to put on after the cream - need to try for a week and see how we go. When I did my shopping there was a sign up saying there was a special offers at the fresh meat and fish counters - so went to have a look. Purchased a nice piece of side of salmon, and they had whole trout on a really good offer - so decided to buy some - bought 3. So intended to bag them up separately when I got home and freeze them - I'm the only one that will eat them. It wasn't until I got home and went to bag them up that I realised they hadn't been gutted or prepped in any way - so found instructions on what to do and so gutted and prepped them - they were then put in the freezer for another day - felt quite proud of myself and it really wasn't that difficult - just a bit messy and does take a few minutes.
Also did all the ironing.
Have a great Saturday everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Mornin' to all the early risers!
Dd1 badly sprained ankle this week and is loving being on crutches a bit too much. I have seen her sneakily doing a bit of walking but think she likes the attention when out! However as she'll have to miss her activities I'm sure she will be better very soon. Not disputing it hurts just that I know her!
Aiming to tackle some of the filing this weekend, I've been throwing it in a box and was not until I had to find something for tax man that took me ages that I realised how much I had let it slide.
Also need to find my memory stick , it's in a safe place but can't remember where and need it for a job app.
Am Sure I'll be back later! But if not, have a good one.Don’t put it down - put it away!

Happy Birthday ivyleaf :bdaycake:
I had a fab, lazy morning yesterday. I was just about to have a shower when master tru got up, so I had a coffee with him. Then anotherThen miss tru got up so we drank tea with her. Eventually mr tru surfaced and put the kettle on. I didn't get dressed til gone 11
We went shopping, came home to HM cottage pie and watched a couple of recorded programs. I crocheted all afternoon then in the evening, mr and master went out and miss's boyfriend came round. They went out for a bit then watched a dvd upstairs and I had the telly all to myself
I lit a scented candle, but it waaaaaaaaaaaaay over there, away from my yarn :rotfl:
The new Asda is good, it's bigger than I thought. Very quick to get to from my house. Just one final test, I love Morrison's granary rolls so I'm hoping Asda's are as good, will do a taste test later
I'm not leaving the house today, it's pouring with rain. I'll catch up with master tru's accounts and update my spreadsheets. Saturday is Timmy Towers scrub day, he can run around the kitchen while I'm doing that. There's bits and pieces everywhere, I'll go round the house and fling them all in the washing basket, then return them to their proper homes. I like things neat and tidy and in their proper place - tru family, don't you ever LISTEN?!

Later, I'll be working on my kitchenware blankets :rotfl: Bulletproof0 -

Tru - That sounds like a fab day, wish I'd had one like it.
LW - Hope you enjoy having Ruby.
Lovely evening last night with friends who came to say cheerio to DS2, he will be on his way at lunchtime today. Everyone was away by 12, we had a quick tidy round and then bed by 1.
Raining again, more washing hanging about! Have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -

Morning all,
Happy Birthday ivyleaf :bdaycake:I hope you have a lovely day.
Well I keep saying it but I must go shopping for food today. Ive said that every day since we got back from Devon and we actually got in the car to go shopping yesterday but ended up at a car showroom instead. 3 hours we were at that blasted car showroom and the salesman still didn't make a sale.:(
After 2 hours I refused to sit in yet another car and stuck myself up the reception corner playing with my phone. I'd just about had enough. Despite having a face like thunder he still took another 2 cars on test runs. At least he knows now what he wants (yeah right).
We left the showroom around 5pm, I was done in, fed up and not in the mood to go grocery shopping so we went home. We literally have nothing in the store cupboards and I had to go to my local store for milk and bread last night. The plan was to go shopping early this morning. He got me out of bed at 8 (I'd had a late night last night so could have done with a bit of extra sleep) I come upstairs to get dressed and find him looking at cars again.
He's going to get his head bitten off if he thinks i'm looking at cars again. I don't know why he wants me with him anyway. Not only does he never listen to what I say, I don't blasted drive!
Anyway, rant over. Jobs for today include vacuuming throughout and grocery shopping. Blood test and cobweb haunt will have to wait probably till he is back at work.
Hope you all have a good day, if not a dry one. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Welcome Skitler
Raining here today, washing didn't dry on the line y'day so dried it on the rads, another load is in the machine and one waiting, these will go straight on to the maiden.
We took DGD to her gym class y'day, bought her home with us for tea and she asked to stay the night. I had to wake her up to take hubby to work but she's wide awake now and we will make cakes together soon, I have sprinkles and mini marshmallows to put on the top.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -

Its a horrid day, dark and tipping it down, typical we are going to see DS2's house, its 2 years since he bought it, he usually comes to us as there are jobs for him to do so decided today we would go to see him for a change.
He has got his 2 youngsters so we can kill 2 birds with one stone...... long story.
We are coming back for supper, so fish and chips when we get back, home made. Banana and ice cream for dessert.0
