HELP! Urgent took out old washer and flooded

I'm having a new washer on monday and my grandaughter was helping me remove the old washer to get it out of the way. We unscrewed the hot and cold water pipes to the back of the washer and all water started gushing out so we had to turn the water off at the mains so we now have no water and the kitchen is flooded. I cant…

Hi

I don't think plumbing is any different to any other method of tightening things.
The only left hand threads I have come across are; VERY old stop cocks (the handle section into the main body) Some shower valves and the regulator gauges for acetylene gas cylinders.
Nothing on natural gas that I have done involves left hand threads.
