Would you recommend any of the chocolate drinks? I'd really like to find a nice choc drink but judging by the reviews I've read (from various sites) I'm not convinced that any of them are that great. Saying that though, the Suchard one seems to get the most love so I've ordered that one to try first :)

The Cadbury's one wasn't too bad if I used a milk pod with it, though I found it rather sweet. Not tried the Milka one yet. Think I'd rather make hot chocolate the traditional way with proper cocoa powder though.

    Hi

When I made the Suchard Hot Chocolate it was good-not too sweet but next time I'm going to add some hot milk, as it ain't much in my cup.:) (Probably won't buy the other hot chocs as you only get 8)

I was equally confused when I first got my machine. Basically, every pod has a bar code that the machine reads and prepares the drink accordingly, heating up the water or milk. For latte - you do it twice; first put the coffee pod in and then when that's finished, put a milk pod in. Personally, I find the latte's rather expensive as in a box you get 8 coffee and 8 milk. I buy americano and just heat a bit of skimmed milk in the microwave, then blast it with my bamix. You could just add milk though.

Sorry to be dim, but is the Americano pod exactly the same coffee as the latte pods, but without the milk pods?
    Thanks.

    Hi

According to the Tassimom website: https://www.tassimo.co.uk/Drinks%20Range/COSTA%20Latte?eshopProduct=950873 they use espresso.

I think the warning light comes on automatically, maybe after x many uses? Maybe there is an inbuilt sensor? It won't go off until you've put the machine through the de-scale cycle. Personally, I use filter water just to minimise any risk of scale build-up. You can use a cheap generic descaler, but not vinegar!

I've had my first machine nearly two years now - and never once has the scaler light come on. It still works perfectly too.

The secret is to use the yellow maintenance disk in the machine every two months, or monthly if you use it very frequently. Simply put a cup under, pop in the disk, and press it for a cycle three times. A voilà never scales up!

Kevbev - I have the T40/2 and the red light comes on automatically. The manual actually says if you live in a hard water area, you should descale more often than is indicated :). The Service disc can be used as often as you like.

Can anyone tell me what the service disk actually does please? Does it essentially just draw plain hot water through the machine in the same way that a regular drinks pod would? (Sorry if that's a silly question!)

Yes, just runs hot water through the machine but a much larger amount than a cupful.
