Why should they give you anything? They're a company, their responsibility is to their shareholders.
Food is far more critical to live than gas/electricity, shall we nationalise Tesco? They certainly make far more profit than any energy company!
I understood nothing after the word tradesman due to the poor grammar; I can't address the rest of your post.
Try living in a tent then :rotfl: and yes the supermarkets are just as bad
Seems trades men are beneath you then are they, or your just another educated idjit :T
I dont try to be fancy with words, OR CLEVER, well actually its not clever, you'll get it raw and honest

I didn't say tradesmen were beneath me, now did I. I just said your post was indecipherable due to the poor grammar. There is a reason we have language rules, it's to help us communicate better.
I see you aren't addressing any more of your illogical points on the energy industry, it would seem you've lost the argument on this one.
And I'm not educated beyond school level, not that it's any of your business!
I await your raw honesty0 -

They would only offer it if it were economically sensible. Claiming an amount by DD is virtually automatic and has very low administration costs.
Sending out bills by post, banking cheques, reconciling bank accounts, managing bounced cheques, sending reminder letters, and finding people who have moved out without paying the bill, or just haven't paid; all takes time and therefore money. 6% discount to eliminate all those costs at a stroke doesn't seem too unreasonable to me.
If people can't be bothered to shop around for the cheapest fuel, they won't get much sympathy from me.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

SO are you saying the situation doesnt exist whereby people are struggling to keep warm or pay their bills, if you are you need to get out a bit more into the real world
You mention 1 person, multiply that by ALL the others who receive extortionate salaries and bonuses, in all sectors, THEN see how your argument pans out, NO ONE is worth or can justify a salary or bonuses at the rates that a lot are being paid
If any individual, no matter how good, cant survive on a maximum of 100k, then they are pretty poor business men to say the least
Where did I say that then? I am saying that there is simply no direct correlation between high paid executives and pensioners who can't afford to put the heating on, and that the tabloid presentation of this issue is infantile.
Let's look at another sector by comparison: telecoms. Mobile phone usage has never been cheaper, but are you suggesting that the people who run those businesses don't get huge salaries and bonuses? Tell that to Charles Dunstone (estimated wealth £830m) and David Ross..No free lunch, and no free laptop

A tradesman is far more likely than an educated eejit to earn £30 K or more.
:rotfl:Really :rotfl:
No 1 you are way out of touch with what the average tradesmans basic pay is
No 2 There are lots, as we see from some posts on here that DONT deserve anything they do earn, and I dont class them as tradesmen
No3, Most of the educated idjits are the mangers and people who dictate what goes on in this country, believe me, I have met many who dont know theres A**E from their business

 Another i'm alright jack comment that is way out of touch with reality
Never ceases to amaze me that so many on a MS forum are quite happy to be ripped off
Lets get down to reality and that is the thousands who are NOT as privileged as some here and dont have the ability or facility to shop around, AND THAT is why the hikes and ridiculous amount of tariffs are so unfair, why should someone who is privileged enough to be able to get online and have a facility for DD's be able to get the best deals at the expense of ANYONE :mad:Signature removed0 -
The peverse nature of this sad excuse for a country is that those who can least afford to pay, pay most (pre-payment meters etc). Those that can easily pay, pay a lot less for the same amount of energy.
One tariff for everyone does seem very fair and the only way to sort this out as the market isn't working. Won't happen of course, too many vested interest from politicians and their friends, plus attitudes like the below where the poor/less educated can go hang.thenudeone wrote: »If people can't be bothered to shop around for the cheapest fuel, they won't get much sympathy from me.0 -
I'm not sure I understand the different people in this thread who are claiming it's difficult or complicated to shop around? You go to a website, you stick in the details it asks you for, which are readily available on your bill, and it spits out a list of tariffs that will save you money, and by how much.
It really isn't rocket science. While I take the point some may not have access to the internet (let's use the elderly demographic as an example), 99.9% of people in this category will have an indirect form of access either through family or local services like a library.0
