Diary of a spendy cow

The repair for the front door came to £50 and I also spent £12.98 buying some wood stain to seal it up. Not the best time of year to be painting doors, but the weather is due to turn tomorrow so I'm glad we got the first coat done at least.
We finally finished off the gammon, having a Spanish style casserole for dinner tonight which was really yummy. I've bookmarked the recipe and will definitely have it again!0 -
You've done well to persevere with eating gammon all week! We've got a similar challenge with turkey starting on Sunday.
Glad the door is fixed, jobs like that have to be done. I'm still trying to find a plumber to fix the dripping tap and broken pop-up plug. Think they've all gone on their Christmas break already - lots of ansaphones and no returned calls
A nice cheap night out there too - I love the Lion King and have seen it twice. Second time I was a volunteer parent on a school trip with a coach load of 7 year olds - never been so drained in all my life :rotfl: Not quite a relaxing day out!

'Twas the night before payday...:rotfl:
This month the major lesson has been that we should not remove all the money from the bank account and take it on a night outI did have a lovely time though and if you can't overspend on your birthday, when can you?
As it's payday tomorrow, I have checked the bank accounts and I have £92.62 left in the bills account, of which I'm leaving £40 in there. My mobile phone direct debit will likely come off in the morning before I transfer money in there and I don't know what FD are like with their charges. Better to be in credit than notI also had £60 left in my groceries account so that's gone off to savings too. That means I am finishing the month with a savings balance of £1230.98 :money:
Not a lot else to report. Heading to London today for a meeting/Christmas lunch, but coming back on a relatively early flight. Knackered this morning. Any time I have to be up early I worry I won't wake up, so I woke at 11.50, 1.30 and 4am then finally gave up and got up at 5!0 -

Thank you for the birthday wishes _party_ I'm still getting parcels through the door :rotfl:
Today is payday (WOO!) so I have money againI was beating myself up for not saving much last month but I managed to put £355 away when I have a surplus of £500 roughly each month. This is making me a bit happier about reducing my hours next month as I know I can cope when putting that much away so I will cope when it's not there, if you see what I mean.
Money stuff:
Current account: £500
Food account: £225 (I want it reduced to £200 in January when I get my first reduced pay, so this is my baby step towards that!)
Christmas: £173.80
Car: £202.66
Savings: £1253.91 (Added a little this morning)
I topped up my Christmas account this morning with the leftover £4ish from my food account and with the £25 that would otherwise have gone to be spent on food, along with my usual £100 monthly top-up. I'm pretty sure that everyone is catered for, but will likely spend some money in the sales on gifts for next year so it's good to know that I have a fund started already. I also need to get another smallish gift for my best friend.
Not a lot else to report really, just sad that I have to go outside when the weather today looks so awful :rotfl:0 -
Morning folks
Money News:
I'm over budget AGAIN on my weekly spend challenge thanks to a takeaway last nightPretty certain I'm just going to give up till the New Year :rotfl:
I have ordered a £26.25 Amazon voucher courtesy of TCB. I'm adding that to the vouchers I already have in my account which will take me to nearly £60Pretty sure I'm going to buy myself an Actifry after Christmas.
£10.22 (holiday pay?) received from my second job today so I've added that to my savings account.
Last night I went to Sainsbury's and spent £44.61 before discounts. I then used £12.50 worth of vouchers/coupons and got the total down to £32.11. It's going to be even cheaper because the dress I bought for the bargain price of £11 turned out to be the wrong size (hanger said 12, label said 22!) so that'll be going back today. What a muppet I am!
I posted off my ISA transfer form today - the rate on my ISA is dropping below 1% so it's off somewhere else instead.
My Nectar balance is up to £14.03 in points, so we'll be getting our Christmas bits and pieces from Sainsbugs. That'll include veg and something cheesecakey for pudding most likely. I've managed 42 Adpoints this week and have a few other videos to watch this morning as well.0
