    It doesn't work like that.
I've got a bottle of the Lidl stuff from last year. The label states:

    Undiluted approx. -60 C
    1:1 approx. -20 C
    1:2 -approx. -10C

To demonstrate the perils of performing multiplications on temperature values, consider the following:
One day it's 1 Celsius outside but twice the temperature the next day. Brrr - still cold!
One day it's 34 Fahrenheit outside but twice the temperature the next day. Mmmm nice.
One day it's 274 Kelvin outside but twice the temperature the next day. Dead.

Thanks for explaining it. Makes an even better case for the Aldi one, compared to the ones londontiger found.

Considering winters in this country only go as far as -5 I think it's good enough protection to be honest.

Have you ever been past the Watford Gap?

Two years ago it was -20 with us and -26 further north.

I've also got some nice-smelling Halfords double-concentrate screenwash (which I use the rest of the year) so I'm going to add a small amount to the mix when I dilute the Lidl stuff and see if that's enough to improve the smell :p The Lidl one is truly excellent but gawd it stinks (hence why I only use it in winter)

Edit: and given the uber carp weather forecast (that's where I'm really glad that I have a covered car park!) I have no intention of going anywhere on Sunday/Monday so will use the time wisely and strip the old wax on the car and reapply everything :D
Now free from the incompetence of vodafail

It's good to find a screenwash with this sort of useful information on it, rather than the more common recommended dilutions for 'normal', 'winter' and 'severe winter' or the like.

I actually tested some 1:1 dilution in my freezer which was at -20°C according to the thermometer I put in with it . Having left it overnight it hadn't frozen, although it was more viscous than the neat screenwash so probably close to freezing.

It doesn't smell particularly bad to me either.

side topic...anyone recommend a good windscreen cover for ice and snow? I currently got one of those that you jam between driver and passenger door, but if its windy it flaps around and has even blow off once. Would prefer one that covers the top of the car windows (e.g http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-UNIVERSAL-CAR-SNOW-DUST-WATERPROOF-RAIN-TOP-COVER-/180758833667?pt=UK_Car_Exterior_Accessories&hash=item2a1610ea03)but don't seem to find one that can cope with a roof aerial sticking out.

One of the best things under £10 I've ever bought.

When people are doing these extensive temperature calculations around -5 to -20 degrees, are they factoring in the wind chill factor at 70mph?
    Just asking;)

Wind chill isn't a factor for objects like cars, rather than people. It can't reduce the temperature to less than the ambient temperature:
