Winter Is Coming - Lidl Screenwash 24 Oct
Comments
-
I get mine in Concentrate form, from a local shop in Louth, called (absolutely true) Trotter's Traders. I have used it now for 3 years, it has seen off the heavy snow whilst parked always outside and never freezes. Used at the right seasonal concentrations on the label, it has never frothed or frozen, although the jets will freeze on my 2010 Focus: I use a jug of warm water on them until they defrost. With the right stuff, it is only the ends of the jets that freeze, the liquid behind is OK.
EDIT: If the jets are hard-frozen by extreme temperatures, I use a thin needle to poke them out, whilst pouring warm water on them, taking care not to move them about as this will change the direction of the jets.
I think you've missed something here -
The whole point of winter screenwash is you don't have to faff around with jugs of warm water, or thin needles.
Where does one find a jug of warm water at half past eleven on a winter's night when you come out of the cinema - or a thin needle for that matter?
Or do you carry a flask of hot water specially for the job!0 -

If you've had one of those huge drinks to yourself, you can get creative.0 -

I have a max/min thermometer outside my front door, and I saw -12 for ten nights in a row last winter. And I live in a mild part of the UK - West Wales.
I gave in and took the car ...If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
Mission accomplished
The girl at the till at my local Lidl said that they had been selling loads all morning (no surprise there really)Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -

Maybe in London, but I have seen -20 in Scotland the winter before last and -10 and lower in the South of England.
Lidl screen well is well worth it, but I only use it during the winter, all season rest of the year0 -

So you weren't here for the 2 winters recently where -15 in the daytime wasn't unusual?
On most mid-winter nights it goes well below -5! I do wonder where you get some of your posts from sometimes...0 -
Has anyone seen this screenwash in store yet?0

If you dilute 500ml of -70 it will make 5 litres of -7
It doesn't work like that.
I've got a bottle of the Lidl stuff from last year. The label states:
Undiluted approx. -60 C
1:1 approx. -20 C
1:2 -approx. -10C
To demonstrate the perils of performing multiplications on temperature values, consider the following:
One day it's 1 Celsius outside but twice the temperature the next day. Brrr - still cold!
One day it's 34 Fahrenheit outside but twice the temperature the next day. Mmmm nice.
One day it's 274 Kelvin outside but twice the temperature the next day. Dead.0
