I've heard it called the Bad Dreamliner but never the deathcruiser, given that it's never been responsible for a single death I'm sceptical that pilots would refer to one that way

Norwegian is a great airline, the Dreamliner is not a great airplane and even Norwegian are beginning to think there may be a problem. One aircraft has been grounded for weeks and barely a day goes by without another problem with one airline around the world. I certainly won't be boarding a 787 any time soon, no matter how good the fares.

Friend of family member flies it - training captain...it came out of his mouth...

So be sceptical, I don't think its the fact it hasn't caused a death, just more a case of its only a matter of time (although you can say that about most craft)

The one that landed in India the other day with an 8 x 3ft exterior panel 'missing' doesn't really do this craft anymore favours either...

And the Air India plane had been collected from Boeing last Saturday, so it's not Air India's fault. Norwegian are quoted this morning as saying with the maintenance, diversion and reliability issues, the plane is costing them 50% more than any other plane they have ever owned. However, when it does fly, it is fuel efficient!! Looks to me like the next DC10, I spent years avoiding flying on it and I am still here, so point proved........

The fares have been announced, £149 to New York, £179 to Fort Lauderdale and £199 to Los Angeles. However there is the magical word 'from', the fares are one way, food and entertainment is extra as is the luggage. The only benefit I see is the slight possibility of a fare war but as BA will have 9 daily flights to New York and Norwegian less than one a day, maybe not?

It's a bit early to liken it to a DC-10, especially considering no 787 has ever had an accident ;)

£50 a case and £15 for a bit of nosh (my numbers, not theirs) and you're suddenly paying the same as BA clobber you for.

Might save families a bit of cash if they can cram everything in to one suitcase.

I flew with them last month to Gran Can.... basic, but comfy, and far more room than a Ryanair/easyjet plane (pitch)..
Did read about there longhaul (especially the bad press!)..
However, if u could book an advance flight for under £400 inc bags and food to LA or FLL, i'd be down with that!

ohhhhhhhhhh, with bags/food, showing up as £418 to FLL in August, not a bad cost..

So a training captain for the 787 openly uses the nickname deathcruiser, I'm truly amazed, he must really hate his job :D
