No, I think you explain yourself very well. I too, do get frustrated with the same people asking the same thing over and over and saying good morning good evening etc., which means lots of people miss lots of things as it just takes too long to wade through it all. The reason it's done like this is to make it harder for store staff to correct the glitches tho, so it's pro's and cons.

The answer I suppose is a closed FB group, but then lots of people would miss out - again pro's and cons...

I think your missing the point of this thread, it is about the additional extras.

There are other sites were information is easily accessible like 10 ways and HUKD, but there is only one Elite!

There are closed FB sites, but these are closed and I have no idea how you get an invite to join. Although I don't say hello, I do say goodnight if I am chatting as it is rude to just stop. So make yourself a cuppa, relax and enjoy x

All went well on the Persil...but why am I getting it for full price (£5 less the 10% invisible discount card I have for using the APG properly on each shop), instead of waiting for a glitch and having it at £1?:think:

A warning on the Smoked Mackerel Fillets - despite showing 85p (per 100g) vs 80p (per 100g) Avs T on msm.co.uk, they are returning N/A. I did check over at T on msm to see what weights T's were and they are the same, but they're counter ones in T - maybe I am getting the wrong £8.50/kg ones?

The cream is a v.v. good price vs T!!:D
But why did I get one more Twinpot than I really needed?? Still prone to temptation shopping even when having to stick to a list!:rotfl::rotfl:(I think it's because T's offer expiry is closing in - ... but do not let that tempt you!:cool:)

Yes, I did need that many bananas as I'm not doing a Morries comp. shop myself this weekend (did that last week and got want I needed vs M) and just need enough bananas to last till the next T or M shopping. Spring Greens and Tenderheart Cabbage are vs a mix and match 'deal or no deal' at T.

12 items (11 different) on your bill qualify for comparisonASDALogoWhite.gif Tesco

    +£6.12CheaperSignBlue.gif
    0.82 x ASDA Bananas per kg£0.55£0.55
    1 x ASDA Smartprice White Toilet Tissue - 200 Sheets p...£0.67£0.67
    1 x ASDA Spring Greens (500g)£0.75£0.50
1 x ASDA Baby New Potatoes with Herbs & Butter (360g)£1.10£0.39
    1 x ASDA Tenderheart Cabbage£0.60£0.50
0.25 x ASDA Smoked Mackerel Fillets by Weight per kg£2.10N/A
1 x Cadbury Dairy Milk Chunks Twinpot (90g)£0.50£0.50
    2 x Cadbury Flake Twinpot (90g)£1.00£1.00

    1 x Persil Non Biological Powder - 50 Washes (4.25Kg)£9.50£5.00
    Comparison total (compared products only)£17.47£11.35

No fillers - apart from the one additional Flake Twinpot! - just my normal shopping, carefully made to wait (without running out of essentials) till the relevant shop, and careful as to what we already have and what we have from other shopping comps.
  • Morning everyome :)

I have some sympathy with this ChrisEvanson as I have been unable to keep up with the thread lately and I would very much like to, though maybe for different reasons.

But it is interesting that you are trying to encourage peeps not to be judgmental, and yet I read you post and found some of the comments both derogatory and judgemental, yet I am very sure that was not your intent. If someone suggests to read back a few pages then that is usually good advice, not a snide comment. If it is indeed just a few pages this takes a couple of minutes, well worth the effort if you want to hook a fantastic bargain. If the answer is a way further back in the current thread or even on a previous thread, folk usually take the time to hunt it down and link or reference it. We all read and interpret things differently and that is why I don't usually comment on such stuff, but ....

I wanted to comment here becuase I think at a time when the thread is very very busy it is important to underline the fact that the spotting and grabbing of bargains is not the raison d'etre of this thread - that is why it is here, on this sub-board, on MSE, and not elsewhere. If you want Grabbits, there is a board for that on MSE and there are plenty of other sites that do similar - you have referenced a couple that do it very very well.

This thread is resilient and sustains because of the way it has evolved and becuase of the way it self manages. The very people who "sit on it all day" (doubt there are in reality many if any of those) are the bedrock of why the thread continues through both glitchfests and lean times, through harmony and discord.

"some people have a lot of other things to do in their lives and can't spend all day every day sitting at their computer." I don't have the time to do this, nor does anyone here. The core of the thread, the trunk of midwinters tree, is a group of wonderful folk (am not including myself in this) who day in, day out don't just between them keep this fab thread going, but do so with verve and style and compassion and empathy and with joy and laughter and tears. And the fact that in doing so they save us all bucket loads of money is a bonus and a blessing. I am uncomfortable when I see this criticised, because that is the "goose" - not the actual glitches themselves. And when there are lots of glitches and there is disharmony on the thread, then these folk should be applauded for the way they do things, not dissed, because it is so much harder to sustain that equilibrium and yet it is done, through thick and thin.

Absolutely everyone is welcome on the thread, everyone is encouraged to post. But please please don't try to change the way the thread runs because it has been tested over time, it is good, it is sound and it helps hundreds of folk every single day and I would be very very sad if that were to stop.

I think this a truly lovely post, beautifully said.
