If you are set on buying a new machine, take a look at these DELL machines from £204 delivered. Be quick though. 3 year warranty included.

It would appear the Dell site is down at the moment.

I do actually have some mobility problems and I am also undergoing intensive hospital treatment with an operation in the offing. This is going to rule out the use of my left hand/arm for several weeks.

Much as I appreciate the offers of help from members of this forum I do not think I am mentally tuned in to undertake an upgrade myself at this time.

As my current Dell is still working, albeit quite slowly perhaps it would be better to postpone replacement in the short term. I have a couple of acquaintances from when I worked who I can maybe contact to enlist their help whichever route I go down.

Indeed, if you have someone who can help you, they are fairly simple upgrades.
closed can help you to speed it up without any manual labour involved as such.
A friend to fit the parts for you would be even better. We can guide them through if they don't have any experience.
