The story so far.. my maternity pay has just run out so we're having to live off our tax credit which gets paid every weds and dh's wages which go in the last working day of the month. The majority of our bills go out at the beginning of the month which leaves us living off tax credit each week. Dh is starting a new job on the 2nd July which will be more money each month BUT will be paid on the 20th of each month. We're in a right muddle trying to scrape by on tax credits but it's a nightmare and right now we've got £7 in the bank to last us til weds..... I need to rearrange our direct debits to make things easier but don't know where to start!! Here's what goes in and out and when...

I think I got every thing in there up until the 19th July. Hopefully you can figure out where to get your food and petrol budgets from. But like already mentuioned, I suggest you do weekly budget for both from the CTC and you OH wage covers the rest.

I forget where you are IA, but wondering whether to mitigate any of this you could get some work , be it delivering leaflets or something of an evening,

What about getting a babysitting card in paper shop windows NOW, you might be lucky and get some work over the weekend- then Ste can ylook after your LOs and you can go earn.

Have you got a sainsburys nectar card lurking anywhere? Biglad found a few quid on his the other day, might help.

The only other thing I can suggest, although its only useful in a COMPLETE emergency, is writing a cheque for petrol if thats what you need till the tcs come through.

have you cleared out any green met or amazon money laying about., I know it takes a few days tho.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Please don't take offence, but it looks like it is just this week that things have gone pftttt for ya. Looks like you need a short term £25 loan from family or a friend member till Wednesday to cover everything and buy the most essential items like nappies, then pay the person back first thing wednesday and you should be home and dry. Looks like you should easily be able to do a weekly £65 budget for shopping and petrol from what i can both see and figure out.

That's a good idea. Will write one out and get it put in our local CO-OP.

Ste does... can you use it against food shops at sainsburys then?

Hi.. We have the same kind of problem as hubby gets paid every 4 weeks and I get paid monthly..

What hubby and I have now is two accounts
Account A Hubby wages (every 4 weeks) all direct debits come out I can't keep moving the direct debit date so It's a bit of a battle to stay in the black I admit but If I was you I would have all the direct debts come out on the last day of the month which means his wages will have been in for a couple of days at least,
Account B My Wages... I withdraw a set amount every thursday that pays for everything that is not a DD (food petrol small people etc) when it's gone it's gone...I find that's the only way that I can cope... At the end of the month if any wages left(ha ha) we have treats!!

I did think about changing them round but as hubby earns more than me I would have to keep moving money on a daily basis!!!

You seem very on the ball when it comes to money I'm sure you will find a way that works best for you:hello:

Yes, your nectar card should have at least a couple of quid on it . IIRC they started them off by giving you a free pound, although that was probably a while back now.

All you do is go into your sains and hand the card over, same as using boots advantage. However, as i said to biglad the other day, im fairly sure to redeem the points you have to have once put points on in that store. Ring nectar to find out.

What about vouchers? GOt any laying around. Waitroses and the self serve at tesscos often take vouchers if you havent bought the product that can help too.

Sar - sit down and take a deep breath - You are the QUEEN of budget and I think somehow (maybe with all thats going on) you have managed to get yourself into a flap.

I'm going to start with :grouphug:

2nd - what do you NEED between now and Wed?

As for the week/month budget issues my suggestion would be to have two accounts - one where Ste's wages go in and all the bills/DD's go out of and one for the TC's which is for you to live off (petrol, food, spends).

£108 a week is very do-able - especially if your name is IA :D
