OS Daily Thread Wednesday 15th October 2013

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

• Good morning everyone :)

Gosh these mornings are getting very chilly, still haven't got the heating on and we are hoping to hold out until November but am having to jump out of that shower faster every day!

Usual dash so another hi and fly but wanted to say thank you for yesterday's lovely messages of support about the job interview and to congratulate Hilstep on the birth of her grandson Evan Philip Howard. That is a very fine name.

Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Morning all, dark and gloomy out there this morning I was hoping to have a good walk this morning along the Saxon Way by the River Medway but the forecast is rain.
I made a nice lamb broth with my DDs left over lamb bone and thats going to be portioned up for the freezer this morning.Mid-week already and time is just whizzing by at the moment.
As I don't think I'll make the walk today I think I had better catch up with the ironing.Just looked out of the window again and the sky is a dark pink which is usually a sign of wet weather. So ironing it is with some catch up t.v.
Hope you all have a good day and keep wrapped up warm, winter is on its way chums I think :):)
Cheers JackieO xxx

My ink arrived yesterday, all docs are now up to date :D

Mr tru went to the wool shop and bought me some lovely yarn. I think he only went cos he knew I'd be quiet while working with it :D I was getting frustrated with shades of blue and cream, I'm making blankets for my nephew and couldn't quite find the perfect colours. The creams were too pale or too yellow, the blues were too 'cold' or too dark. Mr tru popped in on the off-chance and there they were – not-too-dark denim and a perfect cream. He rang me from the shop to check, I said 'while you're there, could you just pick up some lemon? Oh, and some white?" I think he must've had speakerphone on, I could hear the shop owner laughing at our conversation :D

The chickens aren't too happy at the moment, they're on medicated feed for a week and aren't allowed any treats. They still gather at the gate at tea time for corn but none appears. I'm sure they're ignoring me - they usually hover around my feet when I let them out in the mornings (and get in the way while I'm cleaning their shed) but they've been racing straight past me when I open the door :D

I've had a letter from the dental access centre, my last appointment with them has been postponed by a month :( I'm not cross with them, these things happen. But I hate going (even though they're all fab there) and I'm peed off that I have to wait, I feel like my life is on hold until it's all done. Yes I know how pathetic that sounds :D

Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Dry, foggy and chilly here this morning.

DH and DS1 up stupid early and gone to work.

Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces, mash, veg and gravy. Had a bit of a nightmare as I forgot to pick up the work keys when I finished work last night and only remembered when I was half way home - dashed back but colleague that had then taken the set of keys had left. So I spent a frantic hour or so trying to contact someone to ensure that we have keys to get into the building this morning. But did get confirmation from our Supervisor that she would come and open up for us en route to the other office where she is working today - so hopefully as long as she remembers we're sorted!

Yesterday wasn't that busy - then we had times where people were waiting ages - just seems to be the way it is at the moment. Colleague had a customer who got really mouthy with her and unfortunately she couldn't grasp what my colleague was telling her - she said she would be back today if her bens are not in her bank account today - they won't be because she's not due to be paid until next week - I'm the lucky person on Reception this morning!!! That'll be a nice way to start the day ..... not! Only working until lunchtime - then have all the normal chores to do - so will crack on with those.

Keep safe and well x

morning all

pink sky down here too JackieO but a little bit of sun.

LO lamb tagine with jacket pots tonight for dinner

plan today is to sort out the photo box and either get rid, put them in albums or, not sure what!

I find of late the time seems to drift away and I dont seem to get as much done as I did when at work, so have little projects to do.

Had good long walks last couple of days along the coast with a friend, amazing how far you walk when talking...

Hugs to those that need them.

• Hi all
Misty and damp here in Newcastle this morning. Need to get ready for work soon. Finished work at 8pm last night, got home about 8.30 and was in bed and asleep by 9!
Doctors tomorrow morning for my blood test results. Dr has been on holiday which is why it's taken so long for me to be able to see her.
TTFTM - hope your interview went well!
Hope everyone has a good day!

Morning all,

DH is on his way to Bristol so I was up earlier than I'd like on this WINTER day - dark, high winds and spiteful rain. Yesterday I sat in the sun in the garden for lunch!

Dinner from the freezer again, something quick and easy to digest as we have a meeting tonight so DH has a quick turn around.

I think I'll be turning out the bedroom cupboard as it isn't working as well as it needs to and I'm still clinging to stuff that needs to go.

Time for another warm drink, I think.

Have a great day x
