opened 3 TSB accounts a few weeks ago. No problems (eventually !)

In a branch? The branch nearest to me was a tiny place only 2 staff on counter.

  • I opened a TSB account online and the sort code if for a branch 10 miles away. There are 2 nearer branches so I assume they open new accounts at under subscribed branches to spread the load out.

When I opened the Monthly Saver a week after opening my Enhances they had to give me a different Sort Code as the old one was 'full'
  • Received a letter today confirming my account is now open and a debit card etc will also be sent to me shortly.

However, they have not given me my user id. When I applied for a user id via internet banking the error message came up that I already had a user id. Tried forgotten user id and the error message as you have only recently been issued with a user id we cannot give you reminder. Contacted them on the telephone and they told me they will send me another internet banking user pack with my user id and also a telephone banking pack with a telephone security number.

I'd like to know what happened to the first user packs. Anyone else had a delay getting their user id?

in a branch yes. Was previous told I could not have 3 Lloyds accounts AND TSB a/cs ! This was wrong. Manager phoned and sorted in branch. branch/sort code dont matter if all you want is to bung in £15 k for the interest.

While i was there a guy came in and asked their bond rate (2 yrs I think. It was less than 2%. Why dont they promot the Enhance ?? They didnt even offer it to him. 3% better than 2%, no tie ins, instant access....
  • You were lucky, it must have been a big branch not a small one which I went to. When did you get your user id for internet banking?

Because they want it to be used as a current account, not a savings account; because the rate isn't fixed on Enhance whereas on a term deposit it is; because the rate might not last the full two years...

    Things like that.

Because a savings account costs them less. Because a fixed-term deposit for 2 years gives them more flexibility than a current account as to what to do with the deposit. Because they love customers who automatically assume they should have their savings in a savings account. Because they look after themselves, not after their customers.

None of the above is unique to TSB. It's the same everywhere.

user id came by post a week later. Branch was a fair size (6 peeps), Lichfield, Staffs. Don't really see why size of branch should matter

Because bigger branches have someone on the floor who you can approach for assistance rather than clogging up the counter staff.
