Ignorant Credit Agencies/Firms

  • How did you get on with the FOS?

I'd be tempted to log a complaint with them for each of the above and then sit back and leave them to it.

  • I sent them an email but didn't get a reply, which brings me onto my next plan to ring them if nothing happens with these debt agencies.
  • Just wondering if you've tried ringing Cabot Financial and speaking to them?
That way, especially if you have an account number/reference number, they should be able to find you on their system.

    Good plan.

I've always filled out the form downloaded from the website and posted it yo the FOS signed for. You tend to get an acknowledgement within a week or 2.

    One form per creditor sadly.

  • Cheers for the advice folks.

I have rang Cabot and managed to finally get through to someone who was able to access my account, clearly training is not something they value at Cabot. Anyway, after a few discussions they are going to look at my accounts and try to come up with a solution to get them all paid off in one hit.

As for Quickquid they keep telling me the same thing, they'll get their resolution team to phone me, still not had a call in two days. Ombudsman it is.

Just need to bump this thread regarding updates.

I've finally managed to speak with someone useful at Cabot and have started paying off the debts.

I'm due some inheritance money very soon, I was just wondering if my credit rating would be improved if I were to pay off these debts in one lump sum or does it look better on my credit report that I am paying it off monthly?

I think it doesn't matter to your credit file whether you pay it monthly or in one go. It is probably a historical mess either way.

But I think it does matter to get things moving on and put the past behind you. Pay it in one go, preferably a F&F with a discount.

BTW - I have just asked the forum team to review the earlier posts in this thread. No need for that in my mind and I hope they agree.

From memory quickquid are an American company and are part of a larger parent company.

From past and current experience they seem pretty slow to do anything - I entered a DMP last month and they're one of my creditors, all the others on the list have had contact with me and know the score, not heard a peep from quick quid at all. Their live chat operators are pretty useless too, they only work on preset answers from a file (I use the same system they use where I work so I know what they can see on their side of things) and it seems like if a question can't be answered with a preset, they just send the default one of 'we'll get in touch' just to get you off the chat.

    Thanks folks.

I am very keen to clear the debt and forget the bad bits of my past so a discounted lump sum sounds better. All I have to do now is try and speak to someone with half a brain cell that can actually speak to someone else who deals with the discounted debt clearances. Wish me luck, I feel I may need lots of it.

You unfortunately likely will need lots of luck to get through to someone with half a brain cell, most of them running off a script and if you ask a question that deviates from the script they have no idea how to reply. I tried it for a giggle once on another lender's live chat and they ignored it and closed the chat. Think I asked what the weather was like where they were, or something.
