Ignorant Credit Agencies/Firms

Hi all,

I've been trying to find out full details of my credit file/report and have gained most information, although it's not easy when several different credit file companies seem to provide mixed and different information, strangely.

I have wrote to by letter and email a few companies and for whatever reason they are refusing to respond, I cannot believe these companies could be so unprofessional, I want to pay off my debt and they ignore me?! lol, utterly ridiculous.

I have contacted the following:

Cabot Financial, via email on several occasions over the past 10 months, not had any response whatsoever.

Quickquid: Used live chat, they gave me an email to forward to, resolution@quickquid, awaiting their response, only sent recently so will give them time.

CapitalOne: Have sent two letters to their complaints department/Headquarters, one approximately a year ago and one approximately 2 months ago. No response whatsoever.

I was in negotiation with Cabot Financial some time ago (approx 2 years) via email, they offered me an amount to clear off the debt and I responded with a counter-offer, the response I got back was similar to the sort I got when I was about 12 years old and my mate wouldn't let me borrow one of his games, I joke you not it was the most immature response I have ever known from any company, but it explains why I'm in the situation I'm in now, they are a bunch of children.

Question is what can I do if these laughable companies don't respond?? If they don't want my money that's fine by me, but how can I go about clearly the debt off my record? I presume Ombudsman Service is my best bet?

Regards.

I think you need to be careful what you write as you are treading on borderline insults there tbh. My English is fine, my grammar is fine and I will not be requiring a 'friend' to come round and help me with anything related.

If you have any advice regarding the queries I have made please feel free to let me know, otherwise I would appreciate it if you kept your opinions to yourself.

As for advising me whether to take credit in the future or not I am very surprised, you know you're talking to an adult, right? I am perfectly aware of what credit mistakes I have made in my life, I do not need someone behind a computer screen to advise me on this.

People, please keep your replies on topic! Thank you.

On the first point, wind your neck in, your English clearly was not fine in your first post, so don't pretend that it's flawless.

Given your appalling attitude, and unnecessary agression, I'll just leave you to it.

wow that first response was needless!!

And there is certainly nothing wrong with making full and final settlement offers.

Grammar and spelling on a forum really does not matter - nor was that advice asked for.

In regards to "not taking further credit if you cant pay it" you have no idea what the situation was to bring those circumstances around.

and point 3.. if she wanted letting off she wouldnt pay them.. full and final is a perfectly acceptable tool that most creditors have provisions for.

Well, it had more practical advice than your post did.

I think the OP was not aware that s/he was entering a literary competition when s/he posted. But you know, not everyone speaks and writes English proper like wot I do squire.

The Op should be getting information on the state of accounts from the two credit reference agencies for which there is a £2 fee each. For Call Credit you can sign up for Noddle for free.

What you can get directly from companies/lenders you owe money to is limited to the information they hold about you, last/final statement of account and copies of credit agreements. There is a fee for this too and they must respond. Personally, if they did not respond to me I would consider it my legal right to not pay them any more money until they did respond. But I would keep to any agreements to pay and still pay them in accordance with those agreements.
  • Have the accounts all defaulted on your credit file? If so when?

They fall off 6 years from default date, paid or not.

You could go to FOS. You are entitled to do so after 8 weeks of no response or no final response. One complaint per account.

It may be that the accounts have been sold on but that your report has not yet been updated.

Someone will usually find you at some point, it's the way these things work.

  • Yes the accounts are over 6 years old and defaulted many years ago, I had these accounts when I was young and irresponsible, life was hard and I tried to find help by getting credit, wish I never did but can't change the past so am desperate to make things right now.

I have emailed FOS regarding my problems, not sure how long it takes for them to reply so will wait and see.

Thanks to those who have advised accordingly.
  • FOS can take several months.

  • Hi all, a few months later and I've still not managed to get much further with this situation, I've managed to get hold of someone in the know of my Capital One debt and have paid that off so at least that's something.

I've been email and speaking with assistants through live chat on Quickquid about a £40 debt showing on my credit account, I paid this off in 2012 for an agreed fee, they have told me some garbage which I don't even understand, anyone know why this could still be showing? I can assure everyone the debt has been paid. I have been on Quickquid multiple times asking for assistance, they say they'll deal with it, I hear nothing back. The resolution team emailed me asking for details, I responded with them, they claimed they didn't received my email and I should resubmit it, I have, still no response, not even a courtesy email to say they've got it. They are clearly messing me about, what can I do about this?

In regards to Cabot Financial, I have email them, wrote to them, returned their requested financial statement, emailed them again asking if they received it and heard nothing back, not a peep.

I'm so confused, these companies don't want to help me or want my money, !!!!!! do I do?! I've saved up for 3 years now, I want to clear my debt and get on with my life but these lot won't allow this, it's getting to me big time!
