Is My Boiler Too Small ?
Comments
-
Is it possible for sludge in a what I would call a fairly new system (13 years old) that has always had Sentinol In ?
I'm thinking of joining British Gas Home Care 200, £132 for the year but £50 Quidco cashback.
I take it British Gas would give the boiler a "Proper Service" ?
Could I claim for the Rads on this BG scheme ?
Thanks Again
The first thing BG will do is identify if the rads have sludge in them or not. If they discover there is they will want to charge £700 and it is not covered under their warrantieA thankyou is payment enough .0 -
to powerflush it and won't put it on cover until they have. The first thing BG will do is identify if the rads have sludge in them or not. If they discover there is they will want to charge £700

I haven't seen any Manifolds, I don't know what type of plastic pipe has been used. It's all copper pipe in the airing cupboard & to the boiler but the flow & return pipes that come out of the skirting are plastic.Sludge is possible. Any further with the search for manifolds, type of plastic pipe used? This has implications for the system. I'll leave the comments about BG to others.:eek:0 -
After the 2 rads not getting hot today after 3 hours & just having them on, I'm starting to think maybe it is sludge.
They was just hot at the tops & the sides, middle & bottom was lukewarm/cold.
The boiler sometimes kinda backfires when the burners are switching off.
There is always air in the bathroom rad.0 -
if they are really sludged up, and it's not a trv in action, fairly easy to do yourself, put some sheeting/rags down and/or pull carpet back, shut both valves off, undo one side with a tub underneath, drain into tub/bucket, undo bleed valve to fully drain the radiator, and assuming the valves are shut without leaks, remove radiator making sure pipes don't drop, and get a hosepipe to work outside!!
