I've just gone to the page below - I see what you mean.
    http://www.worcester-bosch.co.uk/homeowner/boilers/gas-boilers
So 24kw is not the smallest, goes 12,15,18,24,30,40kw
I originally went through the webpage questions to find the right boiler for me.

    ;).

When was your [STRIKE]heap[/STRIKE] Halstead last serviced? Has it been done every year? Have you discussed your issues wth your RGI?

One thing you can do now is do the whole house calculation to determine the correctly sized boiler from a power perspective as others have suggested. It may be that 15kW is indicated as the right sort of size in which case then boiler isn't too small and you can move forward having crossed that off the list.

    Cheers

sure they aren't doing their job, and turning off when room is to temp, resulting in tepid/cold radiators

I had it serviced about 6 years ago, to be honest I watched him service it, it was more or less a quick hoover out with a Henry Vac, put me off getting it done again.
I did discuss it with the guy that serviced the boiler at the time, he told me to balance the system, he said he didn't have time to do that for me.
Yeah looks like 15kw probably is the right size, the builders would probably have guidelines to sitck to for that sort of thing.
I will do the whole house calculation though.

I've started leaving the cooler/problem rad trv's fully open now

:rotfl:Umm has no one thought to ask what the boiler thermostat and room thermostat are set at, if eithers too low you wont get the system hot ;)

I would also turn the upstairs rads off and see if the downstair gets hot then ;)

AND I would also check to see if the TRV's are on the flow or return of each rad, and before anyone says, they might NOT be dual purpose, and I still doubt the theory behind them anyway :p;)

you could unscrew the trv heads to be sure, and do the isolation test, making sure any room stat is set to high

if the balancing has been adjusted, open up the lockshield valve fully on the suspect rads if they still dont get completely hot
