I am writing in relation to my recent trip to Morrisons. I have posted the elongated version of events on Facebook and written to them, but they have still provided an unsatisfactory answer.
Scenario - Morrisons have Cadburys Chocolates on offer in the media at 2 for £7, max 6 per customer. I attend the store for an unrelated matter and meet a friend who tells me they are in stock. A manager running round is then saying it is now "2 per customer". Morrisons in their email clearly state it is 2 per customer / transaction.
I purchase my two boxes and leave the store. On speaking with my partner in the car park on the phone she states she would like some, so I go back in to the store and 5 minutes later am at the till with 2 more boxes, as a customer and indeed on a "new" transaction.
I scan the products, pay by card and the transaction is complete. I go to leave the store.
The manager then corners me and demands that i refund the last two boxes that I have purchased as the limit is 2 per customer and he witnessed me come in on two separate occasions. I ask for clarity on the policy as in what is the time limit on the "2 per customer". He cannot answer and just becomes nasty. He demands i go and get a refund and have no choice, so I do that.
My question is:
When you have bought something, completed the sale, the sale is lawful ie. for chocolate not an age limit item, CAN they demand on leaving the store that you return to the counter and process a refund you don't want???? I would have thought there is something illegal about this?
Also, surely their offer of 2 per customer / transaction is open to interpretation???
Any replies greatly appreciated.

Simple really, its 2 per customer. You bought 2 and then chanced your arm going back for more and didn't get away with it.
What exactly are you expecting them to do when you write to them?0 -
I don't see that I have breached there two per customer / transaction rule though, it's open to interpretation.
I am not expecting them to give me my chocolates, i really don't care about them, what I do care about is the way I was apprehended like a thief and the legality of their action??

I would have told him to phone the police if he thinks i have done something wrong. He cannot make terms up as he goes along.
I wouldnt have returned the items but i wouldnt have gone back for more either.
We did a similar thing when tesco were selling low wattage bulbs for 1p. Only 2 per customer.
So we picked up 2 each and paid at separate tills. Dropped them in the car went over to another store on the site and on the way back thought lets try and get some more so we got another 2 each and did the same.
No issues even though she was served by the same person and he remembered her but just smiled.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

You paid for the goods, they accepted your money, the transaction was completed. The goods were legally yours. It was too late for them to change their minds."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I am not sure that there is anything illegal here.
As Maninthestreet says, the transaction was complete and they could not demand that you return the goods for a refund.
However, they did ask, apparently quite forcefully, that you do return the goods and you agreed... reluctantly maybe, but nobody forced you.
If you had said no, I am pretty sure they would've done nothing to stop you.0 -
When I saw the two exclamation marks following Please Help in the title I thought there would be a tale of abuse by a business - not a disputed sale of two packs of chocolate. 'illegal', 'apprehended', 'nasty' - oh come on, you broke their terms of sale and got caught, get over it.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0
