I am sorry you are in this situation but have you considered that when you get a decision with regards pip it may not be the one you are looking for and you may then have to wait another 6 months or so for an appeal.

Is there no local charities that could help you out with transport to and from the hospital or neighbours or family ? Have you applied for the help with nhs costs ? Have you asked your gp if there is a better way to manage you tablets to try and reduce that outgoing ?

    I

Of course I have considered it I will give up work my OH will commit suicide I have stopped one attempt already.
Charities wont help we are not in receipt of benefits. Friends dont drive family work shifts the GP has already amalgamated as many prescriptions as they can again I EARN £40 PER MONTH TOO MUCH TO GET HELP BECAUSE I/WE CANT GET BENEFITS ALL OTHER HELP IS CLOSED.

Despite being shouted at my last attempt at trying to help

From the help with healthcare costs website

    How claims are worked out

Help is based on a comparison between your weekly income and assessed requirements at the time the claim is made (or the date the charge was paid if a refund is claimed).

Entitlement broadly follows Income Support rules to decide how much, if anything, you have to pay towards your health costs. The scheme also allows us to include your council tax and housing costs in the assessment. This means you can get help with your health costs even if your income is too high for Income Support.

    What happens after you claim

You will qualify for a full help with health costs HC2 certificate (which includes free NHS prescriptions), if your income is less than or equal to your requirements, or your income is greater than your requirements by no more than half the current English prescription charge.

You will qualify for a limited help with health costs HC3 certificate if your income is greater than your requirements by more than half the current English prescription charge. The HC3 certificate which shows how much you have to pay towards your health costs,

Certificates are usually valid for periods of between six months to five years, depending on your circumstances.

Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j

Essentially nobody except people with cancer are getting PIP decisions.

My husband has claimed PIP under the special rules as he has terminal cancer. The claim was made on October 17th and I have chased three times. The claim is still 'up for assessment'. I told the last person I spoke to that there was a very real possibility that he will die before they decide. He was given three months to live on September 19th.

Good job we're not sweating on the money.

I would strongly consider a letter, or visit to your MP, though I can understand that this may be rather unimportant to you at this time.

Perhaps afterwards I might. We're lucky in that we don't need the money at the moment but other people may not be in our position and it is very worrying that it seems to take so long to sort out.
