2 main dishes & 2 starters plus rice between 2 of us, is that unreasonable? Uusally enough leftover for one freezable meal but that's a bonus. We only have it as an occasional treat so I don't see any point in holding back:o

Oh I never thought of starters, Doh! No, I don't think it's unreasonable, if it's your thang and you enjoy it. Part of me is actually a wee bit sad that I don't enjoy it anymore, when it used to be a sure-fire way to treat myself.

Although my major thang is pasta, and I can eat that aaaaaall day, LOL! So I'm not so restrained in all things, hehe! (But in old style style I don't cook it with salt anymore! :D)

I really miss it too as we used to have Chinese at least once a week (the only time I didn't have to cook) and we'd usually spend £10-£15 between me and DS on a couple of main dishes, rice, noodles and maybe a portion of ribs or prawn balls between us. Sheeeeesh makes us sound like pigs  ... there were leftovers ;)

We're spoilt for choice on take-aways round here but I've completely lost interest in all of them as they're just too salty! ... even chicken or kebabs

We haven't decided what we'll be having yet, enough for all three of us comes to more or less the same no matter where we go so we have a choice of McDonalds (a very rare treat), KFC (also a rare treat but we always get a family bucket around £9.99), local pizza place (large pizza with 2 toppings, medium margherita, tub of coleslaw, 1 medium garlic bread with cheese, large coke, 2 fries for £11) or "Chippy". For us going to the chippy is great as the lady who owns it is also our landlady so we get the occasional pots of sauce (she knows I'm the only one who likes curry in our house, or BBQ which I then use to make BBQ chicken with wedges), prawn crackers or chips at no charge, not to mention the sweets she gives all children and she sometimes even gives us a mini portion of chips in the foil from a pie.

ATM I'm torn between pizza which is the best pizza I've ever had and the cold leftovers, if they survive the night, still taste great the next morning for breakfast - sorry, but thats a throw back to university days; or chippy as I haven't had Sweet 'n' sour pork with rice for ages. The other thing is that whatever we choose we have to get it asap after getting in from my nans (usuallly 6pm) so that daughter can go to bed before Dr Who comes on as I don't fancy sitting on the stairs in the hall with her (nightmares from watching one episode of Charmed is bad enough - apparently in this nightmare I take my head off! - without adding nightmares from Dr Who as well) while I try to watch the programme thought the crack in the door. LOL We've tried leaving my nans earlier but it never happens. Not watching Dr Who is apparently not an option either according to OH.

edited due to mistake, apparently we were having pizza cold for pizza the next morning ROFLMAO

£38.87 to the end of the month, which will be 24th for us, with the last weekly shop of the month due on Tuesday.

Need to tidy the food cupboards at the w/e, but anticipate the shop will mainly be veg, meat, dairy and bread for the week. Doing pretty well for staples, cleaning, baby stuff and fruit. I’m hoping to pay for the couple of extra bits and bats for our trip at the end of the month out of the grocery budget. Plus, we’ve also got a self-catered weekend away before we go abroad, and it would be good to allocate £10 out of the main grocery budget for food there.

    Umm….need to think some more.

I have spent £39.99 some far. But my month does not end last day of the month.

So another 18 days to go. I will go shopping on the 20th as that is when the two weeks are up. And still need too get fruit and veg.

So I do think that I will come under last month as that was £125 and normally I only spend £80-£100 per month.

    Yours

I was feeling a tad disappointed with my weekly shop this week, especially after doing so well last week, when it came in at £60.90. In fact, I was so worried I've been thinking about it all afternoon. In the end I decided to sit down and check it.

When some lotus plants came in the week, which had been ordered several weeks ago, we agreed we needed to get baskets to put them in - and while Misterholic was happy to go to a garden centre, I said I'd seen them much cheaper in Tesco. We also had a small gift to get towards MIL's birthday pressie, and a 50th birthday card for a neighbour. Do I sound as though I'm making excuses, or should these things really come out of a different budget?

Anyway, when you take off the £19.63 for the 2 baskets, 2 brackets, and some bird food, and when you take off the £5.33 for the card/gift, it suddenly looks a lot healthier.

Two weeks ago I spent, on the grocery shopping: £95-odd.

Last week after 1 day on MSE I spent: £42.44.

This week ... the grocery shopping came to ... £35.94 - and that includes 3 magazines I really am thinking of subscribing to. :j

Incidentally, off topic, but ... TV & Satellite Week, normally 95p, has a special offer of 6 for £1, then the remaining quarterly sub is at the discounted £10.99.
