  • Hi guys. My friend had a large polyp removed and docs said so far so good but biopsies etc all done. 3 weeks before we know for sure but looking good so far. So it's a big PHEW !! all round.

I have spent loads today unfortunately. DS and I had a haircut as we were looking like ragamuffins. I need to get my old friend no 109a on my head ASAP as I am turning white :eek:. Bought a load of buttons in the wool shop to finish off cardigans I have been knitting. They cost a bloody fortune. Even the woman in the shop recounted as she thought they were so expensive. Nearly a £5 :eek:Bought new wooden spoons as mine all yuk. Bought some munchies and some cream for a curry. Was yum yum yum. Just the jar of pataks korma paste but was lush. And naughtily I wasn't organised with lunches so spent a small fortune on that too :o.

Hopefully very little to buy over the weekend though. Maybe a couple of small things from the supermarket but I will do a menu plan and see if I can get away with not shopping this week.

2 houses to clean tomorrow but I am now a bit skint so am just going to use money from 1 of them to pay to CC and keep the other one. No point in leaving myself with nothing at all.

I need to knit like a fiend tonight as SIL's birthday tomorrow and I haven't finished her cardy . Laters xx
5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
    Currently CC £23,674.36 /£14,895.41/£14315.42
    Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
    By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.00
  • Afternoon folks. Been MIA as was knitting like a fiend. Was to be at SIL's at 6.30 yesterday and was still sewing up the cardigan at 6.10 . She loved it though so was worth the stress.

Spent £28 in ASDA yesterday but some of that was booze for last night so not too bad. No other spends. I am sitting here and all I can smell is fresh bread. I feel like sticking my head into the breadmaker. I forgot how awesome it smells. I am salivating. Making mince and potatoes for dinner tonight. DD's BF is here so I need to make plenty. No feeding that boy. He is 6'4 and he eats you out of house and home. Never mind I reckon their wee falling out has done them the world of good as he has been Mr Perfect BF this week.

Need to get some sewing done this afternoon. All money saving. Hem up on DS school trousers as he has ripped them because they were a bit long. Button to put onto his other pair and buttons to go onto 2 cardigans I have knitted. Tonight once ironing is done I am going to start on Christmas jumpers and try and get organised. I don't want t o be sitting on Christmas eve and panicking trying to sew a jumper up .

I just booked a wee premier inn so I can take DS to his party in Southport. SIL is coming with me and I have booked us bed and breakfast. £85 unfortunately but hey it has to be done :o. DS's friends will be coming up here in December for his 16th so it gives his friend's parents a chance to meet me beforehand. An expense I could have done without but SIL and I will get some shopping doen on Lord Street whilst we are down. SIL also has a major wish to go and play bingo so I will see if we can find a bingo hall when down there :rotfl:. I hate bingo but she is desperate to go and I am so grateful to her for coming down with me it's the least I can do.

So am offski to check my bread and get the mince on. Hope all are well xx

  • Evening all. Last week in my job. On training Monday and Tuesday then straight into post. Can't wait.

NSD today but just gave DS £2 to get me chocolate and crisps from shop :o. Had soup for lunch with HM bread. HM bread and jam for brekkie and Jamaican jerk chicken and rice for dinner. Was a scwartz pack and it was really delish. DD liked it, DS liked it until he discovered it had pineapple in it and then changed his mind. Anything under the heading fruit and veg is a no no for him- drives me bats. Doesn't like potatoes either. Pain in the bum :rotfl:.

Started a hand knit Aran for a friends wee boy for Christmas. Half way up the back already so shouldn't take too long.

Was driving up to cleaning job on Saturday and DS saw a sign saying fresh eggs. He said wow fresh from the farm Mum, I said fresh from the chicken actually son. So he then said 'but they won't have a shell on them ' After almost crashing the car I asked him what he thought the egg came out like and he just said that he thought the shell was part of the packing process as it was date stamped. I mean seriously !!!. I thought he was quite bright :rotfl:. It has given us all a right laugh all weekend mind you.

So I only have £22 plus what I earn at the weekend to keep me going until end of month. It's going to be tight but I will do my very best to get there. 11 days to go. My child benefit is paid weekly and will more or less cover DS's bus fares and lunches. I have a lunch out on Wednesday in work but hopefully nothing else. If I am honest with myself I have been this skint for months but kept using the card or overdraft to plug the gaps. So the first thing I need to overcome is doing that. I have used CC this month for boots, hotel and £24 shopping so that is still really bad but I have now got a good grip of things so hopefully not much else. I will need to buy DS an outfit for the party but other than that, fingers crossed, nothing else.

I'm finding it difficult to pull my belt in but I am determined.

  • Well I am just rubbish and talk a lot of sh*t :rotfl:. Borrowed £5 for my lunch today as I didn't want toast and spaghetti and then went into ASDA on my way home from work and spent £56 . !!!!!! !! I am an intelligent person so why do I do these things?

Angry at myself . I will use everything I have bought but the majority of it wasn't even needed right now. I bought sweets for Christmas. I mean seriously. I have no money and I am buying sweets for Christmas which lets be honest will be down my throat by next week at the latest. I need a carer or at least an appointee who will keep my money for me :o

Never mind. Onwards and upwards is the cry

Made an enormous chocolate fudge cake for work tomorrow as moving jobs at end of week and everyone is in tomorrow. It looks yum. Going out for lunch as well as my pal was 50 when I was off so we will celebrate tomorrow. More money needing spent :(.

    Arghh

  • Oh MIT

What if you had left all your cards at home then you would not have been able to go to Asda?

Is it because you have done your budget/money so tight that you are acting all rebellious?

I did something similar this weekend, we are skinter than a skint thing due to a vets bill but had to get squash and ham from Asda so why did I walk out having spent £27:eek:. (i think it was a celebration as the vet bill was £385 and not £700:rotfl:)

I am lucky that I live in a tiny village with no shops, I work in the town centre but I don't like carrying things so never buy much from the small supermarket.
  • I agree with leaving the card behind. I still overspend when I know the money is there but know it should be allocated to something else.

  • Girls you are both right and card will be left at home in future. As I said everything will be used but at least a £10 of stuff that wasn't needed ( like toffee crisps and monster munch :o:o) Never mind. We all enjoyed them.

Was out for lunch today for my friend's birthday which was lovely BUT being the eejit I am I over ordered and we had an extra dinner so I had to pay extra . I insisted it was packed up and one of the girls took it home for her dinner.

Chocolate fudge cake went down a storm in work. Managed to save a slice each for the kids so they were happy with that. I got my delivery of glitter and icing colouring for my Christmas cup cakes so that was exciting too.

EE I think I have probably been spending like this for months tbh but because I want to get finances on track I am becoming very aware of my spends. Also I am very determined not to go into overdraft as I am sick of the charges. I have paid out over £150 in last few months just to be overdrawn!!! I mean seriously. So I am defo being better as only 8 days to go and O/D not breached yet. DD lifting my last £20 tonight for me as I need it for DS's bus fares. I will make some pasta for DD and I for lunch.

2 more days to work with horrible boss. My new post seems to be growing by the day and it will be a huge challenge. I am very up for it though and am looking forward to it.

And EE  to the vets bill despite it being much lower than expected.

Just watched the Big Build where the wee boy died. Was blubbing my eyes out. That poor family. Makes you thankful for what you have <3

  • In a huff cos I haven't won lottery ...........Again!!! *sigh*

Last day in my job tomorrow. Training in Glasgow Mon and Tuesday then in at the deep end come Wednesday. Looking forward to it :D.

Nothing much to tell you about today tbh. I ended up having to buy petrol. I had no money so I had to use my card. I decided to fill car up and I will pay it off next week when I get paid. I had no choice as I will need at least half a tank to see me through and my light was on *sigh* again.

Still struggling guys but slowly getting on track. I ordered some stuff for kids for Christmas today so at least I have started my shopping now.

DD's BF got a new car and it is beautiful. It's a volkswagen scirrocco and it is very smart. He was so excited. So nice to see their hard work coming to fruition.

Tired tonight though and heading to bed soon. This money saving malarkey is exhausting :o

I think the hardest thing is when you suddenly stop using credit because you can no longer spend mindlessly, it is quite a shock to the system.

Now that you are putting your mind to it I am sure you can do it.

And new job sounds brilliant - hopefully you will be so happy that you won't have time to keep going to the shop :rotfl:
