How annoying but not sure whether anything can be done about it or not. Maybe wiser people on here can give you advice on what you can do legally.

If there is no legislation that covers this situation, I suppose you either take a pop at Monarch and tell them how it makes you feel (maybe on their facebook page so everyone can see it) or write it off to experience?
  • Well I rang monarch customer services today. First Lady I spoke to was singularly unhelpful saying that prices fluctuate and it states that in the terms and conditions, which is true. I asked to speak to someone higher and was put through to someone who was more helpful and was listening to the situation. Samantha explained that the sale had stopped as it was going to go on until end of October because they wanted to reduce all their prices to be more competitive and that she didn't think they would have another sale in the near future but offer better lower fares.

she couldn't refund money but has upgraded all the bookings made in the sale to big legroom for the outbound journey.

    that will be very nice.

Hope though this may be a lesson for others, although how flights operate it seem you pay your money and take your chance.

    That's true. It's a lottery!

Flight prices fluctuate a lot based on a myriad of factors, there's even anecdotal evidence that airlines use cookies to track if you've visited before. No idea if it's com on place though or if monarch use that.

Fair play to them for doing something about though rather than telling you to get stuffed.
