Read what i said again. I said they raise the prices pre sale and reduce them post sale. It means the price remains almost constant throughout the entire thing but it gives off the illusion of the opposite.

I also was looking for flights during the Monarch Sale, after the sale the price, including bag was about £30 of a difference for us dearer, not the £50 we were led to believe.

yes< I read it the first time. Its illegal. The numbers game makes it worthwhile to try it.

Monarch pricing is terrible, wait until you see the price drops when it gets nearer the time usually.

Only consolation is that Monarch are about the best way to and from Corfu, virtually no queue for their check in at Corfu whilst Thomas Cook punters are stood outside in the blazing heat in a mile long queue, literally down the road for ages, or the Ryan Air lot standing for well over an hour at the gate queue to be first in the bundle for seats so as not to get split up - whilst you can relax on the lounge seats, your seat is already allocated at check-in. And you get decent baggage allowances which they never seem too fussed about anyway.

Its not your fault for not checking anything! A sale is a sale. They cant advertise a sale and then drop the price immediately afterwards.
    Threaten them with trading standards.

Before we all get too excited...

Was it a sale advertised, or just a discount code ending?

Also Caz3121 has made a very valid point which the OP hasn't answered. How many people we're on the first booking? And how many on the second. Airline pricing algorithms are complicated.
  • Yes you did put a discount code in that monarch gave you MYSAVING which was in their advertising for 'our biggest sale ever'. To me that indicated there would be a true saving.
Yes when we found by trying to book someone else in that the flight price had gone down, we went through all our bookings with exactly the same details and it would have been cheaper, a few hours after the 'biggest sale ever' ended.

We booked with the essential package so we already have seats booked, as we are travelling with children and wanted extra luggage as going for a wedding, and you are right we won't get the queues at Corfu airport, so we do have that to look forward to

How many seats did you book on the first booking?

How many seats did you book on the second booking?
  • We booked 4 adults, 1 child, one baby on one booking: 2 adults on second booking and 1 adult and one child on a third booking. These three bookings were made in the 'sale'. We then looked to book 3 adults when the sale was finished and this is when we saw it was cheaper. By the way it would still be cheaper for us today if we booked all of our three 'sale' bookings.
