We have a Sunday roast most weeks in winter. As others have said it's easy to cook, economical and has become a comforting tradition. The favourite here is lamb although dd prefers chicken.
In summer we only have one if the weather is bad.....Summer Sundays usually mean barbeques, salads or picnic's if we're out and about.

I have a roast every sunday, usually just a roast chicken, as its easy to cook and always tastes good, and can use the leftovers for lots of things.
If its a special occasion or fancy sumthin special, we mite have a joint of beef or lamb.
I always have my mum over for sunday roast, or we sumtimes go to hers, but every sunday we always have a roast.

We have a roast most Sundays, a choice of Beef , lamb, chicken occasionally pork , with the usual Roasties, yorkshires, carrots , brocilli or cauliflower, peas and stuffing if its chicken.,, always have a pud on a Sunday too.. Of course in the summer we eat them less and have BBQ or Salad instead... hubby always feels cheated if there is no roast ..........#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

No, we always have ours in the middle of the week as dh has a horror of Sunday roasts due to a very regimented childhood ie you may not do anything else on a Sunday because of the roast...... Our tradition is to have a brunch on Sunday and then dh and the kids cook on Sun evening. We generally have a roast either on Mon or Thurs because this fits in with our committments. I love lamb or pork but the kids love chicken and dh loves beef - we also have pheasant quite a bit in winter.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

PS I forgot to say we always have to have Yorkies with everything regardless of what sort of meat even though the spuds might get varied!“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Every week without fail! Unless it's baking hot then we have a BBQ!
It's the only day of the week we do have a roast.
Sunday is roast day. And Tuesday will soon be Lasagne day!0 -
We had our Sunday roast today for our evening meal
, anybody's guess what we'll have on Sunday!
Roast beef, yorkshire puds, roast spuds and parsnips, cauliflower, gravy. Just cooked enough for us 2, but there is some leftover meat.
followed by jam roly poly and custard.

Unless we are going out or both working, I always make Sundays lunch special...doesn't have to be a roast. It's a nice time to sit at the table, no tv or music, crack a nice bottle of wine open and have a chat
before Monday brings another working week.

I do a roast most sundays, when money is tight I do roast chicken & make the leftovers last till thursday, lol.
When the inlaws visit, I often do something different as MIL is not much of a cook & they like to try different things, I did Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's fish pie followed by Queens pudding for them last month & last week did Thai Chicken & rice followed by Eton mess, I always do a pudding when we have visitors for a meal, but never bother if it's just us 2 as hubby doesn't eat puds.
Next Sunday My DD1 is coming for lunch with his GF, I'm doing roast beef with all the trimmings & also a lentil roast for his GF to try, she's not vegitarian, but loves lentils, I heven't decided what to do for pudding yet.

Usually - less so in summer - it's the meal of the week that we sit round the table as a family, so it is important!
Favourite is either chicken or slow cooked lamb
Nigella's roast potatoes
The two from :
Honey glazed carrots
Broccoli
Mashed swede
roast parsnips
sweetcorn
and, of course:
HM gravy
Kids love it!
The leftover veg (and chicken, sometimes) goes in an omelette on Monday:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0
