Do You Have A Roast Dinner Each Sunday?

Was talking to a friend earlier and she was worrying as she had invited friends over Sunday and they all are expecting a Roast Dinner. She asked if we had Roast dinners and I said yes every Sunday:D

I thought it was the LAW to have a Roast on a Sunday:confused: ...My mum always did them and so have we. Roast dinners are our favourite;)

Our most favourite is:

Roast Leg Of Lamb
Roast Spuds
Mash Spuds (just a small splodge each)
HM Yorkshire Puddings
Carrots
Peas
Parsnips
Cut Beans
Minted Gravy

So, do you guys have regular roasts and what are your favourites?

We have a roast dinner only about once every 2 months. More in winter. I like roasts and find them easy to cook and they always go down well but for some reason don't have them that often. I think it's because I'm fussy about the provenance of my meat and it therefore tends to be very expensive to buy a roasting joint.

When we do have one it is invariably chicken.
  • We have a roast every Sunday. My favorite is roast beef, usually Brisket slow roasted....mmmmmmmmmmmmm.....................
    Nothing to declare ;)

No we don't. Now the girls are away at University we have whatever we fancy. It can be a roast of some sort, but we are happy to have mince and 'tatties'. We both work and both have busy weeks. Sunday is the day when we make a meal that takes a bit of preparation but we both love. It may be a roast, but equally it will be something else. A homemade quiche for example. Like Thriftlady we are fussy about our meat and buy from the farmers market. It is cheaper to buy smaller portions and to be more creative.

If we have a roast it is likely to be gammon, lamb or chicken from the farmers market and stretched to cover other meals in the week. It is also likely to be made in the slow cooker ;)

We always roast on Sunday (present period without a kitchen excepted) - it's one meal I can absolutely guarantee the children will eat and gives me leftovers for later in the week.

We do chicken every other week and turn and turn about in the 'off' weeks with beef and gammon; pork and lamb less often because people are less keen on the leftover-related results.

Mind you, we always have the same things with it, whatever the meat - roast taties, carrots roast with golden syrup  (not as bonkers as it sounds - used golden syrup by accident one week because it was in the same sort of jar as the honey and discovered everyone preferred it), peas-and-sweetcorn and another seasonal veg.

Often recycled as bubble-and-squeak with cold meat on Tuesday.

Every sunday here too, plus at least one during week.
This week we have had pork, beef and lamb.On 3 different days not all at once!!
Again its everyones fav and the kids eat everything and its so easy to do, always do roast in slow cooker and have to have loads of roast potatoes and yorkshires with it.

I agree with this. Any leftovers are always used or frozen. Leftover veg is used for curries, soup etc etc and leftover chicken and meat is made into pies or curries.

We eat alot of meat, spuds and 2 veg meals, but if we have through the week it doesnt seem to be counted as a roast, even though if I served on a sunday it would be:confused: ...funny that:D

There is only 2 of us so we very rarely have a roast unless we have people round or we go to my mums. We do have a nicer meal on a Sunday though instead of the usual pasta dinners we have during the week.

We always have a roast on a Sunday (normally lunch time). We then use the left overs for meals later in the week - for example, this week we will be having roast beef for Sunday lunch, then Tuesday we will be having beef casserole. Last week was chicken, so we had the roast, then i froze a portion in gravy (a quick roast in a couple of weeks) there was enough for a chicken sandwich for my lunch on Monday, and for a chicken stir fry on Wednesday as well!!!!
