How does it stick together?
sorry - I am being exceptionally dense today....:D
thats what the batter does
I usually put a drop of oil into the frypan and then a large dessertspoon of mix in the pan. It sizzles, then flattens out a bit, flip them over do the other side et voila. you dont need to serve them straight away wither you can stick them on an oventray or plate etc and keep em warm. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Ahhh gotcha - I was picturing someting a bit more three dimensional, for some reason

Hi there
Now just the two of us, don't worry about the Sunday roast unless family here!
We have been known to have roast through the week (done in SC) and sometimes have had sausage, beans and mash on a Sunday! It just depends on what we are doing, where we are and who is coming for a meal!

We have one every sunday. My mom always did that and DHs mom always did as well so we're just used to it. When we were living back at my mom and dads we would have sunday dinner there and then go to his moms and DH would have another full dinner.
We never have the same meat two weeks running. My favourite is roast pork because hot pork sandwiches with the left overs are one of my favourite things ever.
Though if the weather is really hot we cook the meat on the rotisserie instead and have it with new potatoes and salad.0 -
We always had roast on Sundays when I was a child and I continued the tradition until the chicks started to move out....we still have one sometimes but OH tends to do a monster fry-up mid-morning on Sundays so 'dinner' is very often something like hm pizza, or soup in winter and something like salad with salami and/or cheese. Desserts we rarely have, as I am the only one of the nine of us who will eat them and I do not need them, believe meWeight 08 February 86kg0

We always have a roast dinner on Sunday although for us its supper, we eat in the evenings.
I roast pork chops with tatties, veg and gravy made with stock, red wine, tomato puree and garlic thicken if needed with cornflour.
Roast chicken with all the trimmings.
Shoulder of lamb, marinaded in red wine (which is then used for gravy), spuds and veg
Roast beed and yorkies etc.
Just occasionally we might have a beef daube or pork casserole, but very rarely.Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Oh I wish I did  - but im with the "its not worth it for one" brigade although I do confess to smiling particularly nicely to anyone I know who is planning one or jumping at the chance to go to the Toby Carvery or the likes:j
My mum bless her was not the best cook in the world but she did and still does a fab roast with rib of beef :T and my dad makes a big fuss of sharpening the knife to carve and then makes sure I always get the end piece cos I always loved it (have moved on to prefer a rarer piece now but I wouldnt have the heart to tell him:o )
What spoils the memory of sunday roasts for me was that we had them about 5 ish and my dad would insist on us having "Sing Something Simple" on radio 2 on - and anyone who remembers that will remember the pain:rotfl: After that though my brother and I would whinge and whinge until he let us put the Top 20 on:rotfl:
So if anyone has a spare chair at the table tomorrow I would love to come :j
and I dont insist on the Top 40 either;)0 -
Prob about once a month unless we go round my mums
although we also have roast if people come for dinner on a sun:beer: :j OFFICIAL DFW NERD NO 159 PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH OUR DEBTS:beer: :j
If you do a job well, people won't be sure you've done anything at all
Must claim back bank charges!!!:rolleyes:0 -
We don't have a roast every sunday, maybe once or twice a month.
Tomorrow i am cooking chicken casserole/stew, dumplings, potatoes and veg.
Cake and custard or ice cream for after, or some scrummy brioche loaf mmmmmmmIf everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day when nobody died.
ROCK IT DON'T STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BE GOOD OR BE GOOD AT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's worth the prize is always worth the fight0 -
Not always on a Sunday as DP is away regularly on a Sunday but do roasts most weeks. Downside he won't have pork or lamb usually so tends to be chicken or beef, sometimes toad in hole instead (which he's still fussy about cuts etc but did manage to win him over with brisket done in SC). If I had a dishwasher (rather than me doing it) I'd do roasts more often, it's the huge washing up pile after a dinner that puts me off especially if I use serving dishes. Roast dinners in a way are a time saver for me as it's one thing I can cook where everyone will have a meal out of what's made. One day I might be more organised...........
