Car serviced, engine flush was used with out consent, now not sounding quite right

So do you have any actual problems with the vehicle? Lack of power, slow starting etc?0

Was it a member of the 'Good Garage Scheme' by any chance? These will usually put in Forte Fuel system cleaner and Oil Flush unless you ask otherwise. And that's because Forte lubricants owns/runs the national con that is the Good Garage Scheme - nothing at all to do with good quality services and everything to do with marketing and selling.
I went to a GG sceheme in Rugby.
Had a service done on the car but ever since they "flushed" it, it's been misfiring - the past two years or so. It's had three or four services since then and they haven't picked up on it.
Only discovered it was a misfire the other week so will look to take it in. The only way I could tell was a loss of power when accelerating.0 -
Hold on, the actual problem of it "not sounding right" didn't start until after YOU had changed the oil they put in, yet you want to blame them for it? Is that right?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -

So he rang the Electricity Board, who responded "this has got nothing to do with us"

I am afraid i think you are clutching at straws here.
You gave them the oil to use and they used a commonly used flush product prior to using your oil.
If your problems was oil related and showed up within the first few days after the service then it could have contributed.
But 6 weeks later and after you changed the oil i don't think you can attribute any blame to the garage.0 -
if someone came & accused me of this i was tell them to Foxtrot Oscar.0

How do you know it wasn't something totally unrelated? Cars break, you need to prove it was them. Can you prove it was OK when it went in? Can you prove the oil you have is from them? Can you prove the flush did the damage?0

I think the OP is in danger of being paranoid. He appears to have supplied the wrong oil and now complains about it as the cause of a problem that he has no evidence of existing.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0

Your lucky the garage done the job for you with you taking your own parts along, no wonder they used a flush so could charge a little extra to pay the bills. Garages are not charity's!!
Do you take your own buns to McDonald's?Google gives you answers use it.........0
