4th wedding anniversary on june 28th and am desperate to show hubby how appreciated he is with a weekend to remember. he sure does deserve it. unfortunately i had an accident on our honeymoon and ended up in hospital in mexico with a slipped disc. not to bore anyone with the details 4 years on after surgery, long hospital stays and a now disabled wife he has been amazing. he now cooks, shops and gen erally runs around after me and the kids (older). have not been out much in those 4 years and am now, with the help of enough medication to kill a small animal lol am wanting to push myself to give him a weekend to remember. heres where i need your help. has anyone stayed at a hotel, reasonable distance from central london that can offer good food, wine and a 4 poster bed (hopefully i will do the rest lol) at a reasonable price. cheapest i can find so far is £300. after him being off sick himself for the last 3 months money not exactly in abundance. god we sound pathetic dont we, honest we are not :j

You don't say how far is reasonable but I've stayed in the Lavender Room at the Sun Hotel in Hitchin (alone unfortunatelY) and that was pleasant. The restaurant is pretty good too. http://www.sunhotel-hitchin.com/accommodation.htmWhat goes around - comes around0

Gissing hall hotel near Diss (norfolk suffolk border) have a luxury four poster room with a jacuzzi...can be had for £99 a night b and b.
It is available on lots of booking sites but cant seem to find their own site0 -
What about a Warner Hotel they offer some very nice rooms with 4 poster beds, good food, entertainment and leisure facilities.
Not the cheapest place in the world but they do have some very good internet discounts and really nice hotels.0 -
Have you tried looking at the laterooms.com site? You can specify area, search for 4&5* hotels and look at customer reviews.“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

I appreciate that sleep may not be top of your list but any experience I have had with four posters has proved that they are noisey beasts .. creaking and groaning all night long ... which you don;t mind for a while but after the cigarettes have been smoked you had better hope the earth doesn't move again or you will get no slepp
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Hubby took me to the Mermaid Inn in Rye.. Lovel quaint Olde Worlde Hotel supposedly one of the oldest hotels in the country (didn't see any of the ghosts mind you!!)0

this place looks lovely but bit expensive they do an all inclusive packgae for two nights, with 4 poster but costs £230 per person and not much cheaper if you book a basic room once you add cost of dinner and breakfast. also bit far for a friday evening after he driven all day at work. thanks for trying though0
