Opinions please on the above
I would be going from a diesel clio with £30 tax
To a diesel 53 plate rav
How much more seriously will the yearly
Running costs be? Tyres etc
I think its high tax?

Why not post over on the Rav4 forum on www.toyotaownersclub.com/ we are a friendly and helpful bunch on there. Mine's a 52 plated petrol so can't answer the tax question but it's a lot more than £30. 6 months for mine is £154 although I think the diesel is slightly less. Tried to post the full web addy but for some reason it didn't work. Click on forums then rav 4 club.

What does the Clio NOT do for you that you need from a car?

Next question would be budget.

I'd consider a small estate car (dog friendly) or perhaps a Skoda Yeti (might be out of your budget). Many of the Golf sized hatchbacks are not much bigger than a Clio, so there's no great benefit in going to one of them.

Also please read other threads about driving in snow etc. 4x4 is not important.

It's much better to get a separate set of cheap wheels with winter tyres and move over to them for the few months where snow is a threat. 4x4 will always use more fuel due to greater drive-train losses and higher drag coefficient.

As above, you would be better with a small estate car.
