Lot's of negative comments, give them some time, maybe it won't be that bad

but nicking the deals other people have found and then posting them to twitter as your own, without the originators knowledge or agreement, is always bad. Time won't change that.

I certainly won't be posting any deals I might find on here now. I'll post them where they aren't going to be nicked for someone else to get the credit.

Absolute rubbish, Twitter works well with hotukdeals and I use both... Good luck with it and to the moaners wake up and grasp the future tech....:o

It's got nothing to do with them being able to be used together; it's got everything to do with using MSE-ers as free researchers.

You're missing the point entirely! It has nothing to do with not grasping future tech or change - it has to do with blatant plagiarism.

It's not about technology or change. It's about the possibility of MSE taking advantage of people's good nature and willingness to find a deal to share on this forum.

If this Twitter feed simply links back to deals on this forum, then it isn't a problem, imo.

If the Twitter feed is to tweet deals found on here, but link directly to websites (with referral links), then it's out of order.

The minute you start with Twitter or Facebook you take away the uniqueness of being a member here and you're no better than the louts and idiots who appear on the Jeremy Kyle Show.

Errr, what?! Using Twitter or Facebook immediately makes you a 'lout' or an 'idiot'? How on earth did you come to that conclusion? Used correctly, both can actually be very useful and valuable sources of information.

Also, what are people insinuating the post originators to receive in terms of 'recognition' for posting a deal - a medal?! I guess a clicked 'thanks' button or a mention on Twitter is nice, but it's not something to get your knickers in a twist about (not) receiving.

So what exactly is wrong with the MSE team tweeting information that is already being shared on the forum (which incidentally is funded by MSE for all of our benefit)?

I for one will be following the new feed.
  • Some glitches take 50+ man hours to work out and are quite complex. Many are not suitable for the tweeter who want fast precise information.
Tweeting every deal will cost many more money than they have to get them right and encourage the trolls in droves.
There are enough facebook and twitter sites with deals for those who want simple glitches so leave our forumn communities for those who enjoy taking the time to read and digest imformation and thank the finders directly.

By all means MSE find your own deals and tweet them but leave your forumn users out of it.
Just how many deals have the MSE team found on their own in the last year?

hmm, tricky one that, now let me think....

no, it's very easy, the answer is a big fat zero :rotfl:

the deals (in the email) are always, without fail, lifted from here where other people do all the work. Let them find their own deals and like I said earlier, they won't last five minutes at it!

    So much negativity.

I completely agree with littlesnuggy... this 'recognition' people are demanding is what? The 'Thanks' button??? Get real, people, nobody gives two hoots how many thanks you've got when reading your reply. Plus, the majority of Grabbits most certainly are not deals that MSE'rs have been out and painstakingly found themselves... it'll be something they've read about on another site, or something they've received on email? Do you see them directing people to go and 'recognise' whoever wrote the email? Do you hell!

To those suggesting that Grabbit is a small close-knit community and we shouldn't be 'diluting' the deals, (text removed by MSE Forum Team). Grabbit usually has 1000+ people viewing at any one time, so to suggest that you're gonna miss out because MSE try and get more people involved is just plain selfish. If you decide you're not gonna post a deal because of the twitter feed, then don't bother! Do you think you're hurting the site? The phrase cutting off your nose to spite your face comes to mind. (Text removed by MSE Forum Team). Growing our community is a good thing, and I wholeheartedly welcome MSE's efforts to do so. Someone that joins us through a Twitter retweet could well post some fantastic deals that you wouldn't have known about otherwise.

To those who suggest that the 'MSE team' go out and find their own deals to post about rather than 'plagiarising', I think you're pushing your luck (text removed by MSE Forum Team). This website has saved the UK population billions upon billions of pounds. Their team isn't massive, a lot of the community are volunteers (all Board Guides for a start, and yes, I am one of the BG's), and quite frankly, the paid staff have bigger fish to fry than finding out how to get two quid off a mispriced bottle of shampoo at Tesco.

I fully welcome the addition of the Twitter account - if it hadn't been for a friend forwarding an MSE email to me 9 years ago, I wouldn't have known about the site, so anything to increase our membership and collective power, the better.

I take it your post is on a personal opinion and not the opinion of mse staff cos you're coming across as extremely condescending amongst other things. You might be a board guide but you'd do well to not threaten to throw people off the site and talk down to em like your last sentence suggests.

MSE official staff - is this the opinion of you guys as well or just your board guides?

    Well said :T

Personally I thought the tone of the post by the Wings of Ambition* was extremely rude, threatening, unwarranted and frankly out of order. Even worse because they are a 'representative' of MSE in a way. Personally I think MSE should be considering a reprimand for this, or at least a removal of the post.

    * Although I must admit I didn't even know they were a board guide until they said because I've never seen them doing any board guiding work on here before!
