But isn't this about spreading the word of grabbits and glitches? That's nothing to do with keeping prices down, is it?

This is about using the combined work of MSE-ers to attract new users to the site in order to get more publicity for Martin.

Slave labour; in other words...unless MSE are going to start paying minimum wage for the research work that the MSE-ers are doing on their behalf.

I don't care about publicity for Martin or money in his pocket or anything. He's welcome to enjoy the fruits of his labours.

What I am concerned about is anything which is a threat to this site which, apart from being a relatively friendly community which I can enjoy with others, answers many questions for, saves me loads of money and allows me to pass money saving tips/useful; information to others.

The minute you start with Twitter or Facebook you take away the uniqueness of being a member here and you're no better than the louts and idiots who appear on the Jeremy Kyle Show.

Your twitter account might well kill your forum. Good luck with that.

Absolute rubbish, Twitter works well with hotukdeals and I use both... Good luck with it and to the moaners wake up and grasp the future tech....:o

Some of us are quite happy with the technology we've got. We're not all sheep.
  • The difference between hotUKdeals and the like to MSE is that some deals are widey available, properly supported by the deal provider and nationally advertised. There is therefore no problem sharing this information.
But I feel on MSE that, alongside such deals, are some more select tips & tricks that will just get out of hand if broadcast too widely.
The forum won't die, but it won't be the same. I think many people will be reluctant to share & the whole community will become less interesting.
Let's not over react, but I do hope that the Board Guides will take our views into consideration.

I certainly would over react. I just won't use Twitter and my best guess is that the majority of posters here will feel the same. Perhaps management should poll the membership?

At any rate it won't affect me unless the forum dies, then I'll have lost an important source of information.

It would also seem that some of us don't like change.

Yes: there comes a point in time when some of us no longer want to embrace change in certain directions, even if we're capable of it In this case I don't want to change. I don't see the point.
