Hi
Well done for supporting her. Do check entitled to just in case. Also do a search on post by chevalier on this furum. S/he regularly posts a whole hoard of really useful contacts for getting things free.
Is there anything you can e-bay/ and Do you know about https://www.freecycle.com, which would reduce your expenditure? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi all
Just an update. After she spoke to the brilliant CCCS, she decided to start a DMP with them.
Its goning to take a some years to repay but everything has to start some where.
Three of the creditors have been understanding about the situation. 2 havent and have been bombarding her with phone calls, 1 even started ringing my mobile and asking for her, so he got told in no way to ring my number again and to F RIGHT O !!
I have stopped them ringing the house phone also.
Some creditors have passed on her debt to other companies now, and they have accepted the amount the CCCS have divided up for them.
I will keep you all up dated
A 1000 thank yous to everyone who has helped

Hi
My girlf and I went through exactly the same thing after about 12 months together. All I had to do really was sit there and listen as she went to CAB and ultimately PayPlan and is now getting sorted, so I've been there.. and can help if you need it...

Good Luck - it sounds like you're begining to get things sorted. Unfortunately some of the creditors can be a right pain but you just have to ignore them - tell them to put it in writing to the CCCS and eventually they'll get fed up and realise she is paying them what she can and it's just tough- they'll have what she can afford according to the CCCS and shouting louder won't help them at all.Making my money go further with MSE :j
How much can I save in 2012 challenge

You got together and have been a partnership for all this time and she never told you about this. What else is she keeping from you ? To me there is no trust (or it's at least all one way). If I were you I would get shot of her before she drags you under.0

Hang on a sec tootie, thats a bit of a sweeping statement. The OP obviously wants to help out his girl. There are a whole number of reasons people don't reveal there debt to their other halves and a whole number of reasons people get into debt in the first place not just due to overspending.
Shame, embarrasment, fear of a reaction, all these things contribute. not due to being sly or underhand in anyway and certainly not deserving of the sacrifice of two years relationship!! to post the above is really rather harsh!debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -

But I just think do you want to build a life with someone who doesn't tell you the truth about such a big problem ? Did she not want to scare the OP away in the first instance and conceal the truth ? Did making a home together make it less likely he'd flee ?0
